Arctic Monkeys – Red Light Indicates Doors Are Secured Lyrics 19 years ago
teeth grind is spot on. it's basically about gettin a taxi home from bein out in town. he talks about askin if the driver will let them have six people in a taxi meant for five passengers. if he doesn't let them, they six of them will have to divide into two taxis. then he talks about seein the girl in a green dress. "sitting going backwards" has a double meaning. in a literal sense, he is sat in a drop down seat, so is travelling backwards, and that he doesn't want to leave (going backwards is perceived as going somewhere you don't want to go). about the "it's high green mate, via hillsborough, please": he is tellin the driver where to go. of the arctic monkeys, andy lives in hillsborough, and alex, jamie, and matt live in high green. both are places in sheffield. then he talks about seein the fight. again, they are just talking about the night, as they were about the girl. then they consider trying to get out of the cab without paying ("jump it"). they went for it, but the doors were "secured", as anyone who's been in a black cab will understand. there is a red light which indicates whether the doors are locked or not.

Arctic Monkeys – I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor Lyrics 19 years ago
the song is about seeing a girl that you fancy. nothing more than thinking she'd look good on the dancefloor and wanting her attention. there's no love involved ("there ain't no love, no montagues or capulets") the situation is more light hearted, involving dirty dancefloors, and dreams of naughtiness. also, the girl gives you the cold shoulder, but you still think she's "dynamite". the "your name isn't rio" bit is a reference to the duran duran song.
