'Lay my head on the hood of your car/I take it too far' sounds like he's taking a drive back home to ohio, and the 'bloodbuzz' refers to his family blood ties. (like when you're in that 'holiday mode' with all your family there and you get that warm, fuzzy, buzz) the line 'The floors are falling out from everybody I know' could be him revisiting old friends and relatives and realizing their lives suck now. 'I still owe money to the money to the money I owe' could refer to owing money to his parents? still trying to work it out... |

this girl i used to be in love with (or still am, it depends on the day you ask) put this song on a mixed cd for me even before we started dating. i never really listened to the lyrics because a lot of the songs she put on there were un-listenable (whiny, screaming boys, and a lot of impersonal, radio-friendly stuff) but i just recently popped her cd into the stereo and found this little gem, and upon listening to the lyrics, i find it quite ironic that she put this song on a cd even before we dated, and yet this song is how i feel about the relationship after its over. |

i take this song as a guy who courts this girl and she goes along with it, not really liking him, giving him false hope by keeping her eyes shiny (a sign of liking someone, like delial said) , and he figures it out by the end to the song, and he's pissed, "Tell me why you lied, And what it is you do to keep your eyes all shiny" meaning how could you keep faking liking me all this time? |

i know this song is about guided by voices, but to me this song is about a guy who falls in love with one of his friends, who doesnt like him back but keeps leading him on

and he just keeps watching her get into bad relationships
