It does actually say "But that's not stardust on my feet" on the album lyric booklet. ^^

Guns N' Roses – Locomotive Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song might be about Erin Everly, Axl's wife until the marriage was anulled in Janurary 1991, which fits well with the timeline as Use Your Illusion II was released later that year.

Also, you should pay particular attention to the line "'Cause you climbed into my world and into my songs". Remember, the classic 'Sweet Child O' Mine' was a love song written by Axl to Erin Everly, hence her "climbing into his songs".

This is a typical G n' R song where Axl uses real life events to reinforce his confusion on strong emotional matters, which he emphasises by finishing on the note "Love's so strange".

Megadeth – Mechanix Lyrics 18 years ago
Personally I feel that both Metallica and Megadeth are awsome bands, however I prefer Metallica far better.

The members of Metallica, each of them are incredibly skilled in what they do. James Hetfield is an amazing song writer (arguably so is Mustaine), Kirk Hammett has some of the best guitar solos in the world, Lars Urlich is unquestionably one of the greatest heavy metal drummers, Cliff Burton was an amazing bassist and Metallica have had a decent share of bassists since.

Now look at Megadeth, sure Dave Mustaine is an AMAZING guitarist, and song writer. His vocals, in some areas perhaps questionable. And yes perhaps if he had become a "reformed Christian" before being kicked from Metallica, today Metallica would be even better.

So even if Dave Mustaine could be classed as better than any member of Metallica (which is a debate in itself), vs. the whole of Metallica he is nothing. Infact I am hardly aware of the other band members in Megadeth, simply because they get minimal attention especially considering the size of Megadeth...

Megadeth – Victory Lyrics 18 years ago
The "not even close... to overdose!" line, could that have any relation to the death of Kurt Cobain having happened died from drug overdose April that year, this song was released in November.

Having said that, it could suggest that he has control over his drug usage, or perhaps it means there's much more in him before his own tragic death, as in he is yet to reach that climax.

In general, I personally feel it's Dave Mustaine being a little big headed as he is so reknowned to be. Regardless it's a quality and very clever song.

I agree this song is about "lies" but looking deeper, there are lines that could suggest the Soviet Union, and Communism.

For example: "you´re waiting the Curtain to fall"

I noticed that too, infact this was the reason I looked up the lyrics for the song in the first place. Probably just a crowd jeer.

Nevertheless, an amazing song.

It's a nice cover, however I think CoB have tried to disguise the fact that they couldn't keep up with Steve Harris on bass. But that's nothing to be ashamed of.

Children of Bodom – Red Light In My Eyes - Part Two Lyrics 19 years ago
B12, let me explain why Children of Bodom are neither EMO nor HARDCORE.

Main elements in hardcore(Metalcore) include heavy vocals in the sense of a more shout-like mannor (as apposed to Bodom, who are more grunt-style vocals.) Also, in a typical Hardcore based band, you find fast steady and repetitive drum beats, with a dominant base (however it could be said that the drums have more dominance over the bass.) But the tune (or guitar) tends to play short high pitched riffs in little bursts. This is completely different to Bodom, who are a more Power Metal/Melodius Death Metal band, elemenants include more synthetic riffs, classical devices and the clever use of keyboards and guitar to create a fast paced and everychanging sound.

Finally, emo music comes from a hardcore-punk origin, and although if you tried very hard you could argue that the lyrics (or perhaps rather certain lines) could be considered emo most likely you would fail because there is a major difference between "death related lyrics" and "self-harm/emotional slander"

Moving on,

Children of Bodom – Angels Don't Kill Lyrics 19 years ago
As Nils Gustafsson is at the point of discussion, it might inetrest some of you to know after having been arrested, and then released he sued the government for 44,900 euros.

Also, to clarify there were 3 murders, and one survivor. There several theories behind the murders though, for example apparently Nils Gustafsson was the ex-boyfriend to one of the girls, who was currently dating the other lad. Evidence to support this was that the girl that he was previously daying was dealt the most damage; 17 stabs to the neck.

Also, shortly after the murders it was reported a drunken man in a bar began to scream how he was guilty for the murders, and several days later he was found dead at the bottom of Lake Bodom; the police confirmed it was suicide.

Kalmah – The Groan of Wind Lyrics 19 years ago
I like the way H5N1 is portrayed as "A power enemy". Makes it seen as if it almost alive, with a mind and a motive to kill us all. Quite daunting really.

Another genius piece of work by Kalmah,

I think you guys have the whole anti-nuclear war quite wrapped up.

What I like about this song though is the intro, it's peaceful. In my opinion this represents peace before the development of nuclear warfare. Also, the style in which the lyrics are sang, syllable by syllable in some cases enphasise the on going struggle of nuclear warfare.

*Yawn*. Bring on the meaningful shit?

I don't like Cannibal Corpse, it's not just their lyrical content though. Or perhaps it is, but the lyrics reflect on everything else. Meh.

Children of Bodom – Deadnight Warrior Lyrics 19 years ago
I think this song is a little bit deeper than that.

Before the Daylight falls to rest,
into shadows,
Soon I'll be on a black-night trip,
I'll fly across the sky.

By "Black-night trip" I think they are reffering to drugs, and the tense tells us this hasn't happened yet. So this character is looking forward to falling into this trip in the mid of night. But then the line "I'll fly across the sky" could also symbolise suicide, which can be supported by the previous line, a strong metaphor. Two different interpretations.

If the daylight dies, the Shadow's are falling on me.
Then I'll be at your side, then I'll becoming wild
Always in the moonlight shadow,
I can't get out,
lost in time for eternity.

I believe this verse tells us there is a possible reason for suicide, not because of loathing but instead to be with someone he loves. So they can be lost together forever.

Don't wake it up, call my name, it's death!
Set them all on a trip of pain,
I can't wait!

The key part of this small verse is "trip of pain". I believe this supports the theory of suicide being the idea behind the song. And also "I can't wait!" tells us it is yet to happen.

I believe the final verse represents this character failing to suicide.

There are also parts of the song to suggest hating this person he is to meet, for example: "In the night I'll find you to drink your blood,"

Children of Bodom – Children of Bodom Lyrics 19 years ago
To clarify, Wikipedia states that although CoB are mainly Power/Speed metal with influences (in particular the vocals) from Death Metal they apparently are also what is called a "Neo-Classical Metal" band. Which means they contain elements from 18th Century Classical Music, which is why I believe they're also reffered to as "melodious".

I think the song as well as being about the victims of Bodom arising from the dead in search of revenge is also about the members of the band themselves being "Only calmless spirits of corpses" which is supported by the fact that the members of the band in their earlier days did spend nights there.

One more thing that stood out to me was the line:
"Something Wild
has survived!"

Something Wild being another album by the band in this song is reffered to as the fourth member of the "Children of Bodom". The one and only survivor. Could this suggest that the very album "Something Wild" is based on this fourth cast?
