I think most of you are right about the first love thing... but it's not a girlfriend... it drugs... The Cadillac represents his home life with his "Wife" and new baby... since it sat in the back ally.... He got the Galaxie when they were recording Soup in New Orleans.... Shannon would cruise around in the car and get high... unfortunately it where he was more "at home". This song has to be one of the saddest out there if you hear it through my interpretation.... lets hope it means something different to the little girl he left behind. |

This is also one of my favorite Jeff Buckley songs.... The lyrics are so simple and straight forward... but they say it all. on a side note here are the lyrics to Lover as a work in progress (see witty_reference's earlier post).... I bit of a different feel but still an awesome song. Lover, you should've come over.
