O.k. Or-ess I do agree that this song is not about a chick. I am quite surprised that no one said it referred to sex either becaused it seems that everyone's vision of every Deftones song is about sex so I am pleasantly surprised it did not go in that direction. Moana, does mean sea. But it reminds me of the seduction of an addictive drug. How the appeal of it lures you... in sucks you clean of all sense of space and time... just the thrill of getting high again. And being devastated by the aftereffects of it. |

To me it signifies depression. Not sex, but I can see spiritual inferences though (for those who interpretted jesus/armageddon). See the thing I like about this artist is that the lyrics are abstract enough to be open for the listener to interpret. But I feel it (the song)as an emotional disruption or loss. "Anniversary of an Uninteresting Event" to me is more fitting to that of a celebration of desponency, not sex for there is nothing interesting about being depressed. I can understand where deftones fans can feel it is a song about sex because most of deftones melodies are sensual.Very touching song though. |
