I'd love to know if anyone agrees with my tiny interpretation of this song.. As soon as I heard it and read the lyrics, I instantly thought of the seattle based grunge band "Mother Love Bone".. The chorus: "Dude came down to touch the mother, mother touched and dude aint here no more." in my opinion would mean, that Andrew Wood (singer of MLB) came down/was born, and created the band, then "mother touched" meaning the band touched many hearts, they made an imprint of people and then Andrew Wood died.. To back this up even more, I just searched to see when Andrew Wood died. He died on March 19th 1990. That was before this album was released, a few months before in fact. This album was released on August 21st 1990. Of course, the rest of the lyrics don't really fit in with my interpretation, do they? But I'd love to see if anyone agrees with me.. The song also sounds abit like a MLB song. peace |

It is like being stoned, I'm sure of it.. For one, what the f-ing hell is "like being stone" and it says low... For two, search google, every lyric site has Like Being Stoned... For three, the song is also referred to as either Like Being Stoned or Low (Like Being Stoned) in brackets. Get it right. |

I think you people are missing the meaning of this song...maybe I am...but remember a song can mean anything to anyone.. I think the song is about going to quick into sex and making a big thing and just having it all the time... but not thinking about the problems that could arise...and then its about some sort of sexual disease like HIV or something...this would explain why he says its 'dirty sex'...because as people SHOULD know...sex aint dirty.. Then he sings 'should've kept my pants on THIS time' suggests that he shouldn't have had sex because something happened... And what about this part: 'How could you respect yourself? you couldn't respect yourself cuz I didn't respect myself. I couldn't infect myself with.... realize that I'm worth more than that realize that I'm worth more than that realize that I'm worth more than that realize that I mean more than that!!' That suggests that he can't believe she didn't tell him and he is asking how she can respect herself and go around infecting people...and then it says 'I couldn't infect myself with'..it just all makes me think that he caught some sexual disease... I think the song is about a man that is in love with a woman yet she breaks up with him and he feels there relationship has no chance of working again, he feels that he has no connection with her anymore and that he can't communicate as if he is a million miles away. And he tries to move on and hide the feelings yet it is hard for him. I hope I am slightly right, but we will never fully know the real story behind the song. |
