I think we found out in this song that "he" was born an orphan and that the first time he felt betrayal or loss was right at his birth. "Mother, at my first breath Every paragraph was set As I inhaled the scent of debt Mother, that first stolen air On papers saying I'm not mine" The mother he could actually be refering to is the government, the only mother hes actually ever known. The whole 5-7 minute mark of this song is amazing. |

Continues the saga of the family ravaged by war. In this song the man reflects on losing his wife. This song mainly showcases that effect on the husband. "Grief need not her grave - Nothing left to save. I would also like to note the lines when daniel talks about how much time we have left on earth. One of my favorite lines by them: "If you knew the number of the steps you would ever take, bitter i wonder: would you run or cease to walk?" |

Chronologically the Last song on the album, which devotes itself to the final dialogue between husband and wife. It starts off with the man pleading for his wife to stay with him after his awful bouts of doubt. But he is refused by the wife in the prechorus section where she basically says that its too late and now not possible. "I am so, so sorry but if you love me you must let go" "Two young souls in the dance of a chain sling Love once born from the ink of Solitude Bidding to dance in the swing of a rope end Walking their Remedy Lane through this interlude of pain" These lines refer to the couples relationship as a dance that was formed from their original solitude and has survived the tragedies such as an attempted suicide, to somehow find a solution to their doubts. Finally its ends with the wifes conclusion that theyre relationship has bonded so tightly that it is no longer possible to live with the other and their love for each other wins over their past tragedies. This is the second song in the album that devotes to the tragedies that happens between the couple based off of Daniel and his wife. The woman tries to hang herself with a Winnie the Pooh tie, only to have the beam of the roof break and she wakes up seeing the different characters from the cartoon. By the end of the song she is emotionally dead but still physically alive. "And Shes not there at all" |
