Bloc Party are fecking brilliant and this song really gets to me everytime...it's so pure in meaning. It's definitely about love, stripped down and raw. It's about finding someone and believing they are the one. Were you unawares Did it catch you out? Or did it break you in Right from the start He's asking her whether she was expecting it, to fall for him the way she has. I dunno why, but this song really makes me feel fuzzy when ever I hear it, I can have it on loop and not get bored of it...I guess I can really identify with it, coz once uve found love like this ur never the same again |

Yeah I agree with bloc_party15. I love the lines 'I'll leave this while I can' and 'what got broke here wont go back together again'...gut wrenching lyrics. Shows that feeling when a relationship has totally broken down and theres no way of fixing it. He's obviously in pain about this, but feels he needs to walk away while he can before they get too hurt perhaps... 'I wish u all the best'...very poignant. I love the Editors, saw them at V (Weston Park) this year and they were brilliant. |

Wht a tune to dance to!! It was playing last night in a club, and I'm hooked. Heavy beat!! Fantastic! I've got a slightly different view on it...it's almost like she's satiring someone for falling for a 'maneater'...perhaps an ex? I just think this is emphasised from the continuous repetition of: 'you wish you never ever met her at all' so perhaps she's saying ha ha, if that's what you want, your welcome to it. Also: 'all you crazy people come and jump around you doing anything to keep her by your side because, she said she love you, love you long time' So they are running circles around this person, and then they are wishing they had never met them...so I do think she's mocking him! This song is truly magnificent. I think it's about wanting someone so badly that you would give everything to be with them. When you want someone that badly, you truly crave to be 'in love' with the person, to give them your all and for them to reciprocate. But for whatever reason it seems the guy she is talking about is not giving in. 'Lately I’ve been thinking Maybe you’re not ready for me Maybe you think I need to learn maturity' This indicates that some sort of interaction and confusion may have gone on between them, and she was unsure as to why this guy wont be in a relationship with her. And in retrospect she is thinking these are the reasons. 'Tell me what is enough To prove I am ready for love' Does this perhaps suggest that the other person is worried she isn't ready to be with him? Anyway, this song means a lot to me as I can identify with it. Wanting someone, and them wanting you back but being reluctant to be with you. That's what I think it means. Angie x |
