i know this doesn't relate to the song's meaning, but when i hear the effect on the electric guitar in the very beginning, i think it's easy to picture the northern lights = aurora borealis. i think it's neat. |

As cheesey as the theme is, it's true and it's a good lesson. Just be yourself in life. Sure, you'll make some mistakes and trip once in a while, but it'll make you into your own person.
"You'll love who you become." |

| The Early November – Dinner At The Money Table Lyrics

Now that I know Ace's story growing up from listening to The Path CD, the first verse of this song seems to really reflect what he went through. If any of you are unfamiliar, Ace was raised by other family members who told him that they were his parents. He didn't meet his real parents until he was a teenager. |

| The Early November – The Truth Is Lyrics

"While The Mother, The Mechanic, And The Path is groundbreaking and revelatory, [Ace] Enders was feeling far from inspired right before he started the project. In fact, he was fed up with the music business and considered dropping out altogether. "I was driving home one night and I was feeling like I just had enough," he explains. "I figured I'd work construction or retail or whatever. I hated the business part of it and I was thinking that I wanted to do something that wasn't about advancing my career. I was really questioning my motives.""
I took that from The Early November's myspace page, and I think it's pretty self-explanitory. The Early November came very close to breaking up during the making of this record. This song (my favorite on the new CD) is about how Ace came so close to giving up until he realized just how much everyone means to him. In this song, he expresses how The Early November is his life. He needs to hear some 'deep end,' (Sergio, bass player) and some slide guitar (Bill or Joe, guitarists) and some drums crackin' (Jeff, drummer), and he'll feel alright. There are other references in the song (People he works for, his love and new wife, Jennifer Enders, etc.).
In all, this song is about how Ace came to realize how, in the midst of overpowering and overwhelming stress, he just needs these people. He plainly states this in the last line of the song. |
