It’s really short-sighted to pull a lyric such as “no one’s ever gonna love you more than I do” and then say that it’s going to be a song at your wedding. In context, that one lyric is depressing as hell. And just because the melody is in a major key, doesn’t mean it’s a “happy” song. The lyric isn’t meant to be gushy; he isn’t saying this to win the girl over, but merely remarking about a relationship that ended. Every other lyric in the song points to a past relationship that ended in a really bad way. Not a good choice for a wedding song, if you ask me. |

This is such an incredible song. It’s a shame that it wasn’t included on Alone With Everybody, because it could’ve easily replaced weaker songs like “Slow was my heart” or “Everybody”, but I can see why it was hidden as a B-side. A bit too lengthy, and perhaps a little over-produced as well, but still amazing. As for interpretation, well, it’s clearly a love song. But the lyrics touch on topics of loneliness and isolation. I heard (or read) somewhere that Richard Ashcroft has had a history of depression, and I think the lyrics may reflect this – especially the first few lines of the song. This is a great “headphones” song, especially the last minute or so that contain several vocal parts that seem to come at you from every which way. |

Sorry if I don't have anything else to add about this song, but I see no point in commenting on the meaning of an unoriginal song by a lousy Canadian band. (P.S. I'm Canadian, so I can say that!) |

Totally agree with RyanBoy on this one. Take You On A Cruise was my favorite from Antics, and I was wondering if OLTA would have a song similar in style, lyrics, melody, etc... and I think this is it. Another brilliant album from Interpol. |
