Love this song, first of all. ;D The chorus (When I go forwards - You go backwards - Somewhere we will meet) reminds me of a dance. I'm not sure what type, since I'm not exactly well-educated in the ways of... well, dance. Still, it does remind me of a dance. Tango, maybe? And politics (which I can only assume this is what this song's about) can be summarized as a dance of sorts. Just wanted to add that thought in if nobody's mentioned it. |

| Type O Negative – How Could She? Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I love the faster bit in the middle. I often find myself humming this without even realizing it. ;P I think it's pretty interesting how much rougher it sounds. With the way it's laid out, I've always imagined it like a scene with the narrator watching TV in a dark room. At first, he's kind of muttering to himself and listing off names of these ladies, but then it goes on a bit. After thinking some more, he breaks himself from the daze and erupts into anger (the middle section). Then, he settles down a bit (back to the more legato part) and goes back into his sad state of loneliness... and perhaps even self-pity. Hey, that's just how I imagine it. [: |

| Violent Femmes – Never Tell Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I've always found this song pretty funny. He sounds so cute when he says, "And I will find you out, and I will cut you up." It sounds so... not threatening, even if the words are. I love it. I imagine an assassin singing every time. =P Rather amusing in my mind. |

| I just have to say that the "cup of dental" typo or whatnot is the best thing ever. :] It was the cherry on the top of my day. | |
| The Tea Party – Emerald Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Very haunting song... I'm curious about "emerald," though. Does it refer to a precious gem, or a real name? I adore this song. |

| Violent Femmes – Gimme the Car Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Does anybody else find the first half of the song very disturbing and attractive at the same time? =P It's everything a parent doesn't want to hear, even when they know it's the truth. "I'm gonna get her drunk, I'm gonna make her cry"... "I'm gonna touch her all over her body." It sounds like the kid's totally cracked up... to me, anyway. Killer song. :] |

| Stone Temple Pilots – Pretty Penny Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I do agree that it may have something to do with a family tragedy. I doubt it deals with the "second coming of Christ," but hey, anything's possible. :] I think the mother who OD's is the most accurate meaning. Does anybody think it might be about the worthlessness of one's life? That probably made no sense, so I'll explain a bit more... It mentions "Pretty Penny was her name," but was it really a name? If you compare a pearl to a penny, the penny is worth little, right? If Penny is the "name" then maybe it wasn't really a name like Bob, but more like a label of value... So when she finds the pearl, maybe she found somebody worth more than her and she leaves (by death or other means)... and it continues as such. Now, like I said before, I do believe the ODing of a mother is MUCH more accurate, but the above interpretation is how I first understood it. Reminds me of the sea. |

| Staind – Fade Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I love how anybody can use this song for their own situation. It's a fantastic theme, and the music is great. I like how the song is set up. It starts off quiet and slower, and then the chorus swells into something that's mixed with sadness and exhaustion. To me, this song is more about the exhaustion of it all than the real anger... :] Anyway, quite the lovely piece of art it is. I adore it. |

| Ahh, I love your idea that it's about war. | |
| Stone Temple Pilots – Black Again Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| ... Oh, amazing! This is arguably my favorite song by our darling Stone Temple Pilots. The words are romantic, yet they make your heart feel rather heavy. | |
| Stone Temple Pilots – Wet My Bed Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I absolutely love this song, despite its odd qualities. :] There's something completely different about it. The feel is lethargic, and awkward at best. | |
| Louis XIV – A Letter To Dominique Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
To be dead honest (no awkward pun intended), I used to think this was a love song about a girl named Dominique who moved away and the guy and her best friend are missing her. Yeah... Right. =P Then again, all I could understand from the words were that Dominique's gone, she's cute, and she took a stroll. How rare. I'm torn between the two ideas that it's suicide or murder. Automatically, I would assume suicide... but the clues seem to hint more to murder. I think that she was suicidal enough to begin with so they killed her off... and nobody would think much of it because, hey, she was suicidal already, right? ;) |

| The Dresden Dolls – Mandy Goes to Med School Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This song is terribly amusing. You know, I never even thought of it as abortion! That's the beauty of this website, I believe. :] Anyway, if anybody's interested, I usually connect this song with kids that grow up and go to med school... and therefore everybody trusts them. "Oh, they're a doctor! They MUST be responsible and good!" It seems everybody has a degree of some sort concerning the medical field... Here, anyway. "He is a nice man - thoroughly reliable. He's in a rock band... and he goes to med school!" |

| My Chemical Romance – The End. Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I personally have always thought of this song to be about realizing you've been pretending to be "someone you're not." Therefore, you've ended your true self. I very well could be wrong, but it's how I've looked at it. On a note on the previous comments... Here is my own comment to be added: I believe it's fine to say if you like or dislike the music. That's fine. However, should you say "omgz it sux cuz itz 2 manestreem!11one" or "OMFG U EMO!!!11"... or "i haet rap!!1" and leave your message at that... should be unacceptable. At least give a valid reason for disliking the song. (By the way - I most certainly dislike rap and I love rock... So I'm trying not to be too biased here.) Extra note: Emo is a label usually associated with people who hate their lives and want to die. MCR is the complete opposite of "wanting to die." On the other hand, their style can be called "emo." I'm just stating they're probably NOT the kind of band that believes in teenagers whining about their crappy lives and cutting themselves when the kids are rich and loved by everyone. I'm standing up for the band that has made me love life like a hippie. |

| Toadies – Velvet Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
My question is this: Is this about his/someone's parents? Although it clearly says "Mother, Father"... Does this mean he's calling to his parents for help? On the other hand, does it really mean the song is directed towards them? On an opinionated note, I think his voice is nothing short is beautiful. This song is a drug... As well as most of songs by the Toadies. |

| The Dresden Dolls – The Sheep Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I'm curious. In the live recording, the words seem to be different. For instance, the lines "counting sheep I lay me down to sleep but I see a sheep that will not leave" appear to be: counting sheep I lay me down to sleep Please don't leave me with my awful dreams. Is this true, or do my ears deceive me yet again? :P Also, the bit about America doesn't sound like it's being said in the recording. The words seem to be similar, but is the word "America" there? Simply gorgeous song. Feels like such a lullaby (in quite the creepy way, mind you!)... which I find interesting when I match that with something tiltinghead has mentioned. I'm sure CabaretKittie has nailed the meaning right to the wall, so I haven't much to pitch in. :) |

At one point, when she shouts it sounds like: "Take me!" "Meet your match!" To me, anyway. x] I'd love to know what it really is, though. |

| Hot Hot Heat – Save Us S.O.S. Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I just wanted to note that the "tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-talk to you on the phone" is rather clever. | |
| Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Gold Lion Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Although the religion concept makes most sense for this song, I personally believe "Gold Lion" is full of symbolism... as ThirteenSensesKid stated. Cute song. |

| Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Yeah! New York Lyrics | 19 years ago |

This song couldn't be anymore self-explanatory than it is. She's so adorable. |
|
| She Wants Revenge – She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I agree with Bizzno - this is a rather obvious song to be understood. When I read/heard this, it seemed to me that the lady had led him on... or her feelings disappeared completely. That, however, could be incorrect... |

| System of a Down – This Cocaine Makes Me Feel Like I'm on This Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I just wanted to note that the title of the song was probably meant to have an awkward feel to it. Correctly translated, the title is "This Song Makes Me Feel Like I'm On Cocane." The part "Killers never hurt feelings" sounds to me as if it means that the "killers" (drugs, perhaps?) never allow feelings to even occur because they kill too quickly. If this is in the sense of drugs, this is because drugs will often erase feelings, or eliminate quickly. Sorry if this is a repeat of anything anybody said. |
