| Foals – This Orient Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I thought the 'western feeling' was referring to the beauty of a sunset. But bravo on making in to a race debate. | |
| Arcade Fire – Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Beautiful. This song offers to me promise of artistic approval on the horizon. Just inspires happiness and hope. | |
| Arctic Monkeys – Crying Lightning Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I'd say that the narrator in the song is a side kick of the hard man bully of his school. The role i originally enjoyed - making people cry lightening. Later the bully turns on the narrator and makes him cry lightening, so he hates that game now. Most interesting to me is the pick'n'mix/sweets/candy metaphor. I think the strawberry lace is a long winded rant that the character is having. The gobstopper is something that is said that is loud and attention grabbing, and is perhaps what turns his bully friend against him. Might just be about sweets though! Either way... i know opinion is divided but i think this is one of best songs they've ever made, if not the best. D |

I stand by nonsense my easily riled friend. 'Bow to vac it'? That's just misheard and totally implausable. So, yep, nonsense sums it up. Ah well such is life, was a passing comment anyway. |

| The merrie city is wakefield. its shit. but its home so its hard to leave. | |

Yeah secretlywishing's version is correct not the submitted nonsense. I think Stookie is Mik, the shambles guitarist, who wrote most of the lyrics for this song. The lyrics are therefore from his POV and he's described how he sees pete. Is what i think. |

| Larrikin Love – Well, Love Does Furnish a Life. Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"The young dear lover, she hit the ground, The summer out here had to bring her down And in and out of here, in your 'dirty old town', Guess someone had to be lost to really be found." |

| The White Stripes – You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You're Told) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
About helping someone (a girl most likely but it could well be a feeble guy..) in a harsh way because its the only way they'll listen. Yep does sound like a bit lep zep. the album is; but also fused with a lot of blues. so in no way a led zeppelin tribute album! its an excellant album, and this is currently my favourite. :) |

| Arctic Monkeys – If You Were There, Beware Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think this song is about the girl in mardy bum and how the sun tracked her down and hasselled her for her story as they do; even though she "was never meant to fill column inches". Something alex feels guilty about for writing mardy bum in the first place... "if i'd have predicted tears then i wouldn't have said it." |

| Gallows – Abandon Ship Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
They can sing about what they like; but what i said is that i would be disappointed if it were. mainly because it weakens the lyrics, and their imagery. 'they were signed to in at the deep end when they recorded'. they clearly like to market the fact they're a credable punk band so isn't it selling out to go to work for warner brothers? |
|
| The Cribs – Martell Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Yeah its a song about taking a break, from the scene in leeds he's getting annoyed by at the time, going off to smoke crack in london, the city has the nickname 'the smoke'. "Go for a smoke in the smoke". I like that some american company has it on adverts, really these people don't do research do they? |
|
| The Cribs – Our Bovine Public Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Or even.... "Cos we spent too much time on groundwork". i hope it is because i quite like this! could be he says it right fast! | |
| The Cribs – Our Bovine Public Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I think its about how other bands act - mainstream mentality! They wouldn't exist/gain success without being generic and simply following the same boring current trend. The line under debate pretty sure it's "Cos we spent too much time on grammar" Said quite quickly by ryan. |

| Gallows – Abandon Ship Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
The ship is the UK,the captain is blair? just about what a state he has left us in perhaps. he's pretty much sunk the ship. if its about a 'relationship' i'd be disappointed as they as supposed to be a punk band. mind you they are signed to fucking giant corporation warner bros. |

| The Cranberries – Zombie Lyrics | 18 years ago |

To me it's about the fact that children generation after generation are being told and taught to hate and segregate based on denomination in ireland. this comes with violence and the fact that it isn't these kids' war means nothing because "it's still 1916" in their heads because thats just all they get indoctrinated with from so early on. unfortunately i also believe to be a unbreakable cycle. but yeah it's not your war, so live your lives. |

| Yeah but you don't know what those clever little tobacco companies are putting into cigars, freewneel. | |
| Joy Division – Digital Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I link it to Ian's Epilepsy. How its there looming over him day in, day out. And the 'fear of whom to call' in a fit? The same with the patterns forming and shadows falling - the fear this may bring on a fit? | |
| Snow Patrol – Set the Fire to the Third Bar Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i like the observation of drunken men finding flaws in science. :) | |
| The Pogues – Fairytale Of New York Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| kirst maccoll died almost 15 years after recording this song, just thought i'd clear that up. | |
| The Libertines – Tell The King Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think its to do with petes paranoia about carl running with the cool set and he's left feeling delusioned and he won't feel anything but out of place. just what i think though. |
|
| The Libertines – Death On The Stairs Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Indeed it does.. also, just to be pedantic, the little boy on the stairwell says: "i hate being poor like you".. This is probably my favourite libertines songs, and i pretty much love them all. It's just about their simpler, romaticised times before fame and all that. |
