This song's meaning is kind of self-explanatory: his love has gone, so he's sad. :) Anyway, this is a beautiful song...I love it. |

Yep you guys are right! Smith did base it on "A Perfect Day For Bananafish". Here's what he said about "Bananafishbones": "The title, for some no-reason, from 'A Perfect Day for Bananafish' - a short story by J.D. Salinger ... Again me hating myself ... (R. Smith, cure news number 10, December 1990) |

I laughed when I heard this song...it's so way cool :) The Cure are awesome. Of course Paul Morley is entitled to his own opinion, but really, his writing style _is_ rather verbose. lol Here's a link to the original article that Morley wrote: A Cure For Cancer? |

| The Cure – The Same Deep Water as You Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I have heard this song about a trillion times, and I knew it had something to do with drowning (obviously). But now, as Mortonium Ice wrote, "The more I look at it, the more the suicide pact thing makes sense." How could I not have seen that theme before? Ah well...I need to listen to this song again...I must say though, that I love the rain and thunder sounds on the track. It makes the song that much more...cooler. :) I love The Cure so much that it's unhealthy...who's with me? lol |

WOW. You guys are smart...or you just think too much, which is a good thing ;) I must have heard this song about 50 times or more, but I never even saw what HateSaiko saw in it. Amazing. All I could figure was that it was about something depressing. I love this song *sigh* |

| The Cure – Wailing Wall Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
The first time I heard this song I immediately thought of the Wailing Wall (aka the Western Wall) in Jerusalem...mostly because of the title ;) And it seems I was right: "About my trip to Jerusalem with the Banshees..." (R. Smith, cure news number 10, December 1990) I love this song and find it so eerie and disturbing yet so peaceful and calming all at once. Who but The Cure could write anything like that? |
