I was suprised by how many people commented on this song. After I first heard this song I couldn't stop listening to it. It's really moving, and beautiful. I can relate to a lot of the feeling of loss he portrays in this song. "Oh the glory, when you ran outside, with your shirt tucked in and your shoes untied" is a perfect visual for this song, I can imagine it happening, and you can almost feel all the sadness that'd attached to this song. |

I'm a big sufjan fan, and this was the first song i heard by him. "if i was crying, in the van with my friend, it was for freedom from myself and from the land, I've made a lot of mistakes" this part is especially moving for me, because it's easy to relate to, whenever I think back on what i've done i can almost hear the part "i've made a lot of mistakes" repeating in my head as it does in this song. this song is beautiful. |

these lyrics are a perfect way of describing what it's like to feel like your on the outside and that you can't relate to so many people that your surrounded by everyday, and how hard and painful that can be. i love this song. And if anyone has seen the video i think it captures it perfectly, go on with your bad selves, Strokes. haha |

I love this song. Me and my ex stopped being friends for about 6 months after we broke up and i heard this song a few days before he saw me at this show and started talking to me again and i had pretty much the same feelings this song has,and now we're finally friends again. so it means a lot to me. i expecially love "see you there standing and i am afraid i might get in the way" and to me it means after you've had a long absence from someone you really care about you want to talk to them again but you're afraid and nervous. i also love "you look the same, i mean you look different but you havent changed" its exactly how i felt when i saw him again at that show. |

i think this song does resemble "stay together for the kids" by blink because it talks about how painful divorce can be from the kid's perspective just like this one does, and how sometimes they're too young to understand, this is such a great song though. one of my favorite by everclear |
