| Iced Earth – Hold At All Costs Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I for sure didn't fight this war, but I have the feeling this song gives a wonderful view of that particular battle. When a man feel that his life worth much more than he think, when he have to bear the fate of something bigger than himself, a country in this situation, he can achieve things he never though possible. Especially in a desperate situation like this, as Something706 said, great demonstration of the power of the will of man. In conclusion, I have to add this: the part where he sings "Disconcert them, force submission On my command, fix bayonets!" It gives me the chills everytime! |

Hey RyuheiAoi your version of the story made me think about something interesting. Caleb is psychotic. I know nothing of psychotic persons, exept that they're not all sane xD. By anyway, this said, I think that in his dream world, he's the kind, strong and beautiful Romeo and she's his Juliet. She's so in love with him that they can never get separated (or so he thinks). So I have the feeling Tony Kakko made a lot of allusions to Romeo/Juliet because that's how Caleb sees it and he wants us to see with Caleb's eyes. So the poison, the name are all there because that's how the killer sees it. BTW I don't think he tryied to kill her in This Chapter. He was more a stalker, he wouldn't kill her since he thought she would come back. In DSaW, he's really angry and comes to kill her. In the same night, she convince him they can die together. My version might be weak, but to me it doesn't makes him less intelligent. I guess she knew he had that weakness and she knew he would fall for this "together for all eternity thing" because that's what he always wanted so bad. So all in all, I agree with you, Shakespeare's story has something to do with it. It's still Caleb's story, and that's where the shakespeare connection is to be made, in the killer's brain, in his dreams. |

| Sonata Arctica – No Dream Can Heal A Broken Heart Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
As you nicely said, SA songs are great because you can interpret them the way you want. As an exemple, I see a shy guy in love, a guy don't want to express his feelings. He would rather dream about her than tell her what he feels. It changes there: "Until today, I lived in the shadow world Now heart is speaking, brain's defeated Independent thought deleted..." To me it's very clear, since I felt this way not a long time ago. Your brain tells you that it won't work, that she's too good (or too bad) for you, that you shouldn't waste your time etc. while the heart tells you want to tell her so much that you're burning yourself to the ground. So in my opinion, he said "to hell with the brain, now I go berzerk and I'll get what I want" When I think about it, I see a relation where the guy hides himself because he's afraid that she wouldn't like him if he spoke. Maybe he's a sensitive guy while she's a "bad girl". Maybe she's a whore (poison kisses... she 's paid for them). The kisses make him feel like he's in his dreams where everything is perfect. At the end he realise that these dreams are nothign but illusions. I'm not sure if he keep resisting though o0 Anyway, it dosen't always make sense. But as a fact, I love that song |

| Sonata Arctica – Juliet Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Cloudslayer, to me, "You had a change of heart, Now we're all getting hurt..." maybe is a reminder. If that Juliet was still with him, they would still be living together, happy. But since she had a change of heart and decided that she didn't love him anymore, Caleb felt like he was betrayed since she walked away smiling. Now the stalker says (or so it seems to me) that because of her decision, they will all suffer. Him because he lost everything he trusted and, her because he can't let her live happy without him. Might be wrong, but I like it this way ^^ | |

I think this is the end. First Caleb, then "The end" were he finaly finds her back, then "Don't say" where he express his anger and tells how he's going to kill her. In Juliet, it seems that Caleb didn't kill her in Don't say a word, not yet. I'd say that Caleb is accusing her of "killing him" because when she left him, he felt like he had no reason to live on, while her was going away, smiling. "You're supposed Wither away with me, so, Juliette Please don't smile I'm paralysed and you are still alive." To me, those lines means that he expecteed her to "die" with him when they separated, to suffer like him. |

| Iron Maiden – The Educated Fool Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
It seems like a metaphore. I see it as a creature made up by humans, and that creature know that there's something above (those humans) and he wants to know more. Like there were a feeling of emptiness: Do you really wanna be Just another one statistic or feel That you really should aspire That you really do deserve more By metaphore I mean that it could be applied to humans, looking in the sky, wondering if that's all they deserve. I often feel I could be much more than I am, and that's what that song means for me ^^ I want to meet my father beyond--- My creator, whoever he is. A god, hasard, something else? Who knows. |

itsaboutdrugs88 I hope you're not serious? I mean, his the guitarist on this song. Anyway, now that Dimebag is no more, I can't help, I see his face everytime I listen to the song. It's simply a masterpiece, so was the man. Also, altough it's about a girlfriend, in times when I get angry with a friend and we each go our way with minds darkened, I listen to this song... and feel bad. These times I understand what it would be like to loose a friend or gf without the time to tell him/her you're grateful to have him/her in your life. |

| Trivium – Down From The Sky Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I think that's not the point zealous. War was, is and will be, it's a fact, nobody will argue that. But to me, there's ways to wage war. You can't tell you'll free a country when all you want is fuel, and you can't kill tons of innocents for your religion, especially when that religion had ideals of love and peace (christianism, love each other etc). And besides, hiding those reasons is worse (propaganda, terror, in the song). Just take a look at the crusades, the pope promised salvation, but what they really wanted was to slow the muslim advance through the Bysantine Empire and Spain and they needed an army crazy enough to cross a big part of the globe. And it worked, they were real fanatic about that. You know, fight fire with fire, religion with religion. I totally agree with you zealous, war is a part of humankind and it's here to stay. But I still believe that it's possible to lead a negative or useless war and I think that's what the band is saying (or trying to say XD). |

| Sonata Arctica – Blinded No More Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| The message is clear, and it really reflects situations of life. Xenimme got it right, and I have no misplaced comments on this! But after an experience, I discovered an different meaning. You can be manipulated like Xenimme history, but also illusionned. I met a girl I found nice, and I saw only good things in her. But at some point she ended all this in such an awfull way that my feelings for her changed in about 1min 0o. It was like a shell around her disapeared and I saw the real girl. Eh, I was blinded no more. | |

I think its about betrayall too, just like SonataArctica. Maybe its linked to Jani but it would but stupid as he play on the song. To me, it sounds like the "heir" of the pack getting tamed. Some lyrics jsut sounds like it: Not all shared the idea to give you the chance to fail us again, to bite off the feeding hand... we'll move along, well fed puppy... you've got a skin, gray coat, they hate Those as exemple just make me feels he is slowly getting away from the pack. He seems important so the others wolves want him to get back and to "bite the feeding hand", who looks like an human giving him food to tame it, explaining why he's a "well fed puppy". Even if one human tame him, he still got "the gray coat that they hate" and he won't be able to live with humans. The pack know that they are the only to be able to trust him to the end "Who's your friend? Who'll be there in the end?", but "they cannot wait for (him), for limbo, forever, don't make us walk away, packs stay together". |

| Sonata Arctica – Out in the Fields (Gary Moore cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Nothing can stop the bullet from the gun, say it all. I coudl explain longer, but all is in the lyrics. So to me, it pretty means that war won't stop tomorrow, and you can't escape your fate: if you got to fight, fight and die. There's a thin line to cross to die. very thin. Not larger than .50 :) | |
| Gamma Ray – Abyss Of The Void Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| well if I'm right, its about the continuation of the Land Of the Free concept. This part is kinda the end. Or almost. | |
| Gamma Ray – New World Order Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| the concept of New World order is when some organization try to governate the world. Just as the rumors told about the USA and the UK in the early 1900 who would have talked about some world government | |

wow... what a powerfull song, seriously! but I am yet to find exactly what it mean... it seems to be about a boy's life who have been destroyed by his parents. he grew in hate and did only bad after it. But I'm sure this Caleb is someone existing, still he isn't from my culture. Any thoughts? |

| Iron Maiden – The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Update; if you look on the artwork, on the tombstone of TROBB, its written: «Aici zace un om despre care nu sestie preamult» I've found on wiki, if you type benjamin breeg, that those words means «HERE LIES A MAN OF WHOM LITTLE IS KNOWN» go take a visit on the http://www.benjaminbreeg.co.uk/ web site; you can find an update: «At last. I have been contacted by the sender of the e-mail that arrived from Romania. After numerous attempts of mine to reply to his first contact he has sent another communication to me. Fortunately, this time in English. I hope that when I speak to him he will be able to explain the circumstances surrounding the nine words he initially sent to me. The translation of those words is as follows; HERE LIES A MAN OF WHOM LITTLE IS KNOWN. My first thought was that these were the kind of words that normally adorn gravestones and, knowing that my cousin's first job was the inscribing of headstones, I wonder if the words are his. A. BREEG.» a coincidence? the thing is that the update have been made on 28/7/2006 but the artwork have been shown on 02/08/2006... could it be someone who had saw the artwork before?? member? another fact is that on the website you can find a picture of a B. Breeg paint, who look VERY much of Eddie, so much that my brother actualy thought it was an other artwork with eddie... what do you all think? |

...did the guy actually listend to the lyrics before?Even tought i'm not good in english at all, I'm sure he says «All rise, Eyes burn» not «All rise, I fall» i know its not the website for this, but I find the songs really make me feels like I was rising when Serj come to the «All rise» part. love it! and anniemack666, I'm with you, they deserve it! but I'm not sure its the meaning. I don't want to say that its another political song from soad, but... btw... what do they mean by «The National debt is at times an ally»? the third paragraph sound a bit like politic to me... |

| Iron Maiden – Alexander the Great (356-323 B.C.) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I've made a project of 80 hours on Alexander The Great in sec5 as a secondary project, so here is what i've found: Actually, Al The G didn't conquered ancian India, he failed to keep his army togheter for the last expedition. he was in India, beated their army (King Poros one) but gave back his territories to the king and left. Also, maybe guys like Gengis khan conquered more territory (I've looked on a map and he conquered near 8 times Alexander's empire territry!) but he conquered more than the others if you look only to the territories habited and known on this time. And for the question about «is he the best», I think a lot of factors where on his side (Persian soldiers not trained, they were the only potential enemy, they were cowards) but, ME, I love his rash spirit along with the fact that he never known fear. He had a lot of respect for his enemies, and not every conquerors could say the same... just think about the spanish in south america! And plz, don,t go say that im a book smart (or whatever it was... I'M not english) I've said only what I know. And why the hell did this song never made it trought the live set list?!? me want it... |

| Iron Maiden – The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I too have some problems believing this Benjamin story is true... Why would he open the site when the song is out? seems a bit strange.... If you go on Maiden website, there is an interview, here is the end: «EH: One last question. Who is Benjamin Breeg? (Loads of laughter from Jan and Nicko) NM: We are not the two people to ask. You need to talk to Steve……………… » so look like it will be harder than i tough t find it... |

The lyrics don,t mean to be explained, it clear, it goes right in my heart. The guy is bored, he have nothing, will have nothing, he have not even a place in this world. Sometimes I need to listen to this song to know that I'm not alone in these dark times. Love this song, gotta listen it now! |

I've found noting about a Benjamin Breeg, but a Benjamin Briggs ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benjamin_Briggs ) It seems to have some match point. For those who dont want to search on wiki, Briggs was the cpt of a ship called the Mary Celeste. he had to ship a cargo of 1700 barrels of industrial alcohol. A ship who was following it, the Dei Gratia, finaly concluded that the ship was drifting. No distress signal, no life on board, every ship's paper gone exept for the captain's logbook. The lifeboat was gone and 9 barrels where empty. Some says that the captain saw the barrels empty and tought that the ship could explode if the gas was to enter in contact with fire. This is only speculation, and the fact is that the life boat was never found and this case still remain a mystery. Maybe that Harris searched information about this man with the name «benjamin breeg» instead of «benjamin briggs». He felt stupid of something like that and decided to keep the name? anyway... can't wait anymore for the rest of this album!!! |
