The song is pretty straight forward imho It's a song about someone(s) with the bad case of the Monday's or any day for that matter. How people get caught up in the hustle-bustle of everyday life and make a bigger deal out of things that really do not deserve half the anxiety. Simplest exercises refers to "mind exercises" -I am personally reminded of a list of thought exercises I read in a book by the Dalai Lama but could be as simple as counting to ten.
What I am curious about is the song name. I think X could be short for exercises but my first thought was X being the chromosome we all have in common. I picture some really resentful person getting all caught up in some minute thing for work, but when they stop to think about life, and really step back and zoom out, you realize the basic necessities of life(food, love, shelter, happiness) are the only things that matter and that we really are all the same. |

I could be completely wrong and probably am but maybe... he went to go see a friend to talk about some trouble he is in, and I think the line "schizophrenia is taking me home" refers to that all of a sudden his troubles seem kind of insignificant because of the troubles his friend's sister has, and he's starting to feel better about whatever is troubling him. |

just a guess, fire eye'd boy= coked up boy, hint's the reference to columbia. plus if youve ever seen someone real coked up they get this crazy look in their eye. |

this is what it means imho... his significant other leaves him, and he knows it's his fault and admits it and thats all he can do.... "that is all that i can do" . now that she isn't living with him she needs a place to stay, so she's going to stay at a friends place(i guess she has a lot of friends) and he wants to remain her friend which is suggested in the ""WE" have 200 hundred couches" where she could sleep and be upset until she gets back on her feet OR
he's really bitter and this is a very sarcastic song and takes on a whole other meaning, i dunno |
