He is falling asleep when he sees a wasp in the wall, bringing up childhood memories. He remembers how they had made up some sort of "wasp monster." He also remembers a time when he and his brother and best friend were swimming and he had teased his friend and hurt his feelings. "He runs away washing his face in his hands" makes me think he friend started crying but was trying to hide it. He links this teasing with the idea of the wasp monster: "stung seven times," "I see the wasp on the length of my arm." More like he was acting like the wasp monster at this time. He and his friend have grown apart even though he still cares for him. I think the "kiss" does refer to Judas betraying Christ with a kiss; he loved his friend but he still hurt him deeply. |
