This whole album is full of stuff that makes me cry. It's Cash's voice that does it. he's so emotive, and songs like this really fit him. |

My Granddad Jim had this played at the beginning of his funeral. The verse 'Mr Blue you did it right, but soon comes Mr Night, creeping over, now his hand is on your shoulder,' makes me a little teary every time. |

I love the piano in this. And the guitar just as he sings 'flesh and bone by the telephone', as it gets a little louder and slightly more intense. Same as before he sings 'reach out and touch faith'. This is the definitive version for me. Slightly sinister, but with an amazing melody and beat. I love his other covers as well, especially One, Rusty Cage, Hurt and Solitary Man. |

Oh, and the singer is Jyoti Mishra. He was born in India but has spent most of his life in the UK. It's a dude. Debate over. |

It's a reworking of a song composed by Bing Crosby called "My Woman". Al Bowlly, who was a vocalist in the Ray Noble Orchestra, recorded a version of "My Woman" with the Lew Stone and the Monseigneur Band in London. The Al Bowlly version of "My Woman" was featured in the Pennies from Heaven movie and soundtrack. |

| The Libertines – What Became Of The Likely Lads Lyrics
| 17 years ago

If anyone's ever watched Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads, this song is well fitting. Seemingly happy, but with moments of bitterness and sadness. A great (and all too often forgotten) piece of British telvision.
On another note, I used to live in Chatham and was lucky enough to see the Tap 'N Tin gig. Needless to say, they were phenomenal. I so wish that Pete pulls himself together soon... |

| Aerosmith – Crazy Lyrics

I'm listening to it right now. I read the comment about how great the overcoat line is just as it got to that point! Spooky lol!
Anyway, this song is brilliant, and I love the solo. I love all the solos in all the songs though. I'm having an Aerosmith day today, just gonna sit here playing all their songs and singing along. |

| The Wombats – Let's Dance To Joy Division Lyrics
| 17 years ago
|
If you really take songs like this that personally then I really worry about you. Scouting for Girls sung about Elvis. I like Elvis. Personally, I don't like Scouting but singing about Elvis being alive doesn't make me go crazy to defend the honour of dead Elvis. Personally, also not a Joy Division fan but each to their own. My friend's band does a not so friendly song about my hero Richard Dawkins, but I don't threaten them! Grow up, you silly people. If you don't like Wombats, what are you doing commenting on their page?
On a lighter note, this song is very happy sounding, yet sarcastically so. Very witty. |

| Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – Over and Over Again (Lost and Found) Lyrics

I love how the vagueness of their lyrics go with the vagueness of the voice singing them... you can make their songs mean anything you like and I love that. It's like having a tailored band all to yourself that you can share with others.
If you get what I mean. |

People spend much too much time trying to make songs into drug songs. Can you all not just take perfectly nice songs like this and accept it as a love song? Not all musicians are pumped up on chemicals and shit. |

I reckon the painting lines thing is about a pregnancy test. You know, she makes a lot of the little blue lines because she sleeps around a lot. That would tie in with wearing a boy's jumper... |

I first heard this song from a free CD with the NME. I think it's just about some guy who's leaving town for some reason, but there's a girl he likes that he thinks about a lot, but he's never told her how he felt. |

Lexicon is something to do with the way words are formed I think. It's also the name of a company that makes sound equipment. I don't know if this helps or not, but it's vagually interesting, nonetheless. |

| Belle & Sebastian – I Could Be Dreaming Lyrics
| 19 years ago

It took me a bit of googling, but it's an extract from 'Rip Van Winkle' by Washington Irving. The full extract is:
Times grew worse and worse with Rip Van Winkle as years of matrimony rolled on; a tart tempter never mellows with age, and a sharp tongue is the only edge tool that grows keener by constant use. For a long while he used to console himself, when driven from home, by frequenting a kind of perpetual club of the sages, philosophers, and other idle personages of the village, that held its sessions on a bench before a small inn, designated by a rubicund portrait of his majesty George the Third. Here they used to sit in the shade, of a long lazy summer's day, talk listlessly over village gossip, or tell endless sleepy stories about nothing. But it would have been worth any statesman's money to have heard the profound discussions that sometimes took place, when by chance an old newspaper fell into their hands, from some passing traveller. How solemnly they would listen to the contents, as drawled out by Derrick Van Bummel, the schoolmaster, a dapper learned little man, who was not to be daunted by the most gigantic word in the dictionary.
I want to find a copy of this book. Sounds interesting! |

I came across this late at night, flicking through radio stations. I agree with this song totally. Especially the homeless guy bit. I think the general message in the Bill Gates bit and the Porno bit is that there needs to be people with shit lives, and people with problems to make the world work. |

Oh no, The Strokes have more than 7 fans! I must stop listening to them before I lose my indie cred.
But seriouly folks, this song is one of the few songs I can listen to 10 times in a row without getting bored of it. It's got a new yet retro feel to it and I love it. |

This was the first Alkaline Trio song I heard and it got me hooked and it's not often I'll buy an album after hearing just one song.
Oh, and to those of you who are currently flame-warring each other: If you don't like the band, don't waste space posting that you don't like them. If you are one of the people who like the band, don't respond to people wasting posts. They're morons anyway. |
