Written and dedicated to River Phoenix, the second half was added after his death. It was cut down into two parts on some editions of the record, the first part when Phoenix was alive and the second after he died. Smile was a compilation of songs from 1986-1997. I remember [in an interview] he was talking about how he wished that River P. had not been born because he wasn't happy with his life, and how he was now in a better place. And somthing about not haveing anyone to "play with". I'll try and find the interview where he talked about it. |
