I agree with SomethingClever on the meaning that the lyrics and title seem to point toward: that honesty is not always the best policy. |

| Kashmir – Petite Machnine Lyrics

I definitely agree that this song is about a man who is madly in love with someone. I don't necessarily think the "petite machine" lyric refers to the other person: I think it refers to him. The kick drum rhythm in this song is strongly reminiscent of a heartbeat, and the heart can itself be thought of as a "machine" of sorts. He is saying that he is so devoted to this person that they shouldn't worry about hurting him, and that he will always be there for them to come home to because he is willing to overlook any emotional hardship they cause him. |

This Mortal Coil are horribly underappreciated. Gorgeous cover; even more powerful than the original, I think. |

| The Blood Brothers – Lift the Veil, Kiss the Tank Lyrics

The lyrics, as they're shown in the booklet, are "hoist the hag of destitution".
I never would have thought so before, but the war meaning really makes sense. The Blood Brothers always have such abstract, crazy lyrics, though... Awesome lyrics, but crazy nonetheless. |

| The Blood Brothers – Jordan Blilie Pets the Wild Horse's Mane Lyrics

This song is called "Jordan Blilie Pets the Wild Horse's Mane", not "Jordan Billie Pets the Wild Horse's Mane". That said, this is a great song, and I definitely agree with the stalker theories. I don't even know that it has to be as complex as the stalker being horse-faced or otherwise looking anything like a horse, but rather that they're gradually having a more difficult time controlling themselves and, in their excitement, people are seeing them for what they are: namely, a stalker. |

| Mindless Self Indulgence – What Do They Know? Lyrics

Star above your bed, the song is "Backmaskwarning!" from the "Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy" album. Most of the song is normal, but there's a backmasked section toward the middle of the song that says, according to the lyrics in the MSI section of this site, "Clean your room; do your homework; don't stay out too late; eat your vegetables; put away your toys; don't sit too close to the TV," and, "Get dressed for church." At the end of the song, there's a backmasked portion that says, "Don't listen to this song."
As far as this song goes, I agree with the scapegoat thing. I got that impression from the, "Hey, someone to..." section as well. The whole song seems to me, as someone else said before, to tell the story of someone who's bullied for trying to be themselves, and not feeling repentant or like they deserve to be persecuted for it.
"My tendency's never returned; Recieved like a big fat jerk; I been silly, but not absurd; Cuz you know that's what I heard; Tell ya thoughts that's mostly pure; So everything's splended, sure; I'm just there to get injured."
In my opinion, this is one of the best songs off of what I believe is an amazing album, despite the rampant negative criticism it's received from "true" MSI fans. |
