| As mentioned, this song is about Jake Shears' best friend, Mary, who actually ended up dying of a brain aneurism, fairly recently. Jake Shears has a tattoo on his left arm that reads "Mary", for what it's worth. Poor boy. :( | |

Okay, so. This song is about a guy that Rufus was in love with back around 1998, named Danny. (You can see his image in the lyric booklet of "Rufus Wainwright", overtop the second page of lyrics for "Sally Ann", if you're curious.) So, anyway, Rufus was in love with Danny, but unfortunately for him, Danny was straight (and possibly a drug addict, but that's unrelated). However, Rufus has said that they still made out for hours, but never went further than that. |
