To me this song is about sacrificing everything for that one thing that is important to you. Even though you face adversity, this song is meant to keep you going through that time period of trial. |

I feel like Rock Kills Kid's lyrics are fairly simplistic in their word choice. I would be interested to this band evolve with it lyrics but not its music. |

This song sounds to me like someone who is depressed and unsatisfied with his/her life. As he struggles through his life he realizes how much he has once he was alone. Basically, he realized how much he has/had when he it was taken away. Now he a new life and realizes its potential. |

Writers in general willing admit to plagarizing from their own lives and their surroundings. However, what the truly great writers to though is make those experiences universal and timeless so that their piece doesn't die. Sure this song may have been written as a response to current affairs but that doesn't take away from the song or the meaning. |

I hate to get of the topic of Muse, but Gabriel88, are you kidding me? by that same notion, you are saying that real authors don't mix politics with their writing. so is Orwell not a real author? is James Baldwin not a real author?
and what about Radiohead? they are one of the greatests bands of our generation. However, according to you they aren't real musicians because they refernce politics.
get real man. granted, this song probably is talking about more people than just Bush or Blair, but to say that your surroundings don't influence you, that is just ignorant. |

i'm standing with the those guys who think this is about Bush and Blair. This song seems to touch on aspects of their careers. "cast a spell" and "feed the hate" relates to them pumping fear and hatred of terrorism and linking it to the middle east. freedom consuming itself has to be related to the patriot act. the lives and souls relates to the soldiers sent to war, and the crimes against the earth could be not only be the shitty diplomacy but also Bush's conservative views towards the environment and pulling the US out of the kyoto treaty. |

i agree, this song is about american politics. "The city of delusion" is DC.; "fortress your beliefs/ touch the divine" references religious conservatives; the "All Seing Eye" i think has to do with the wire tapping; "all your theories turn to dust "is obviously iraq and the non-existent weapons of mass destruction; and the 4th stanza is a reference to the present war |
