Hey, I believe they threw up for "hours and hours and hours and hours", not just "hours and hours."
The last three lines are sad sad sad. |

Such a darkly humorous song. I'm not really concerned with the historical aspect, although it is interesting, and I thank you, aczinke, for sharing. I just like the song. |

I agree with everyone who says this song is taken too seriously. Listen to the beginning of the third verse and TELL ME Colin isn't smiling. He just sounds amused to me. This isn't a heavy song. |

| The Decemberists – Song for Myla Goldberg Lyrics

Colin Meloy met Myla Goldberg at a book reading she was doing with a friend of his in Portland. Since Colin is from Portland, he showed her around a bit. He thought she was pretty okay, and that she deserved to have a song written about her. She doesn't remember ever meeting him. |

| Sufjan Stevens – Casimir Pulaski Day Lyrics

I'm sorry, Relapser, but I think you couldn't be further from the truth.
The point of the song is that God does exist, but sometimes He doesn't make sense, and sometimes "He takes and He takes and He takes." But that doesn't mean He doesn't exist.
Beautiful song, by the way. Tears me up. |

Heard this song was about his cousin, Collin, who was a heroin addict and committed suicide.
And while that's a very personal thing to sing about, the song can still be interpreted to mean a lot of different things. A good artist allows anyone to relate to his art. |

| Bright Eyes – An Interview with Conor Oberst Lyrics

I love when he calls it "avant sad-sad" in the background. I only just heard that a couple days ago, although I first heard this song/interview/whatever a year or so ago. Cracks me up every time.
Radio: That’s interesting. Now you mentioned your depression.
Conor: No I didn’t.
Radio: You’re from Nebraska, right?
Conor: Yeah, so? |

| Sufjan Stevens – The Seer's Tower Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
Okay, it's not about Mormons. Sorry. It's just not.
Seer could refer to any type of prophet, not just Joe Smith. From a Christian point of view, this song is prety obviously about the apocalyse and that - "I see the end", Emmanuel (Jesus) dividing his true believers, et cetera. hi_fidelity pretty much hit it on the head. The Seers Tower and The Sears Tower and The Tower of Babel, they're all the same. |
