| Tesla – Before My Eyes Lyrics
|
1986.
The most beautiful blonde hair, blue eyed girl.
I don't know why she gave me the time of day.
But I remember being in her room.
And so lost in the moment I can see everything in the room still.
I can see her face. Her body. Her smile.
Everything ignited.
It was so incredible, I was never the same.
Then I lost her. Forever.
And I was never the same.

| Stevie Ray Vaughan – Wall of DeNial Lyrics
| 1 year ago

|
If you've come this far, it's because you're probably suffering from the struggles we all deal with in our lives. Whether it's alcohol and drugs like Stevie. Whether it's the struggle of relationships. Whether it's mental and emotional turmoil within your own mind. Like he said, it's all based on fear. Once you tear down that wall of denial in your life and let the truth of whatever it is that is holding you back no longer have control, you begin to break the cycle of madness that consumes you . The threads in the veil of darkness fall away one by one until you see clearly. The love of the people around you, the grace of God, the peace of mind in no longer fighting the truth, whatever it is, will ultimately lose it's grip on you. Today is your day. Let it go and find simplicity and amazement in your own existence no matter how small it may seem, and let that sensation grow into something greater. Life will get better. |

| Gordon Lightfoot – Spanish Moss Lyrics

Spanish Moss is about his love of a woman and his fixation on and remembering part of her body that he is still missing. You really need to be a man to understand, as we are such visual creatures. Flashes of still frames in our memory stay with us beyond the space and time of our past lives within our relationships. It's a love song. An ode to God's creation. Read between the lines. |

| Devin Townsend – Deep Peace Lyrics

Devin can take you on a ride and some buds will take you on a journey through his genius. His guitar solo is incredible, but it's not just the solo. The foundation behind the solo is so thick and deep with perfect waves of delay and verb that just suck you into the black hole. You fall in and ride around in Dev's imagination and then he takes you back out into the verse and chorus for a bit, before going in a really odd direction. Sometimes it's not about exactly what he says, but how he says it and stretches out particular words for emphasis or maybe just to fit the song. Either way, there's genius at work. The dude is a mad scientist in the studio. I've seen this live stuff and it's great! The biggest bummer was the release of Ocean Machine from beginning to end being mixed so horribily that it was almost unlistenable on the concert Blu-Ray I obtained. I don't know if that ever got sorted or not. But anyhow... Dev rocks. |

| Devin Townsend – Funeral Lyrics

It's commonly known that Dev wrote this for a in reference to a person he lost when he was young. Where I grew up, something similar happened. Three friends I'd known since elementary school were messing with a gun they didn't know was loaded and armed. One guy shot the other in the face killing him instantly. We were only 16. It was just the previous spring that the guy who got shot had wrote in my yearbook that we needed to get together over the summer. I ran into him a few times that summer and then tragically, he was killed when school started at the end of summer. It hit hard. You're not prepared at that age to deal with those things. The guy who shot him was never the same. He become hostile, defensive, very reclusive and menacing. It wasn't long after that his family moved out of the school district.
But in listening to this song it's so relatable and I think I can understand the mindset that Dev was in when he wrote the song. It's been 35 years and I can still remember the shock and feeling of senselessness and loss. I can still see my friends smile. I still remember how he walked. His kind personality. He was just a cool dude.
You're still remembered Dan. See you on the other side brother. |

| Chevelle – Send The Pain Below Lyrics

C'mon man.
It's about a effed up relationship where the guy stayed because the pain of leaving seemed greater than staying so send the pain below and suffocate until it almost kills you. Been there twice for 10 years each time. Then found my wife. Best woman I ever met. |

| Queensrÿche – Empire Lyrics

We were listening to this at 19-20 years old and knew what the message was. Everything has just gotten worse since then. Look where we're at now. Where is all of that military money going every year? And why? What's wrong with last year's stuff or even 5 year old weapons when you're 15 years ahead of anybody else's technology at least. Funny how we can find $100 Billion to send to foreign government wars but can't provide healthcare to our constituents.
Anyway... The lyrics are biting. Along with Operation Mindcrime, it lays out truth about our current system of things then and now. If you can't see the decline you haven't been around long enough. |

Chris Cornell explained that this is what the song was about. They practiced in a shop in the evening right across the street from a post office and used to half heartedly joke about what might happen if the mailman decided to go "postal" while they were practicing. |

I always thought Sabbath were a little depressing, but that's only because they tell it like it is. No punches pulled. This tune is about the wonders of youth, the struggles of adulthood and the inevitability of death. If that bums ya out, join the club. |

It's kinda funny.... I've been listening to this song since I was 14 years old and I've been a Pink Floyd fan ever since. After 25 years, the lyrics have become even more clear and resonate louder. Still love this song, but it means more to me now than it did then. |
