| It's been a while since this song came out, but I still love it. I can see it being about them moving to Cali and everyone saying they couldn't do it. This goes well as the first song with Back Home at the end, because Back Home is when they've been in Cali for a while and they start to miss home. | |

I believe scars is plural. Anyway, great song. I think it's about a fight between a couple, and the different emotions he experiences. The first verse sounds as if he's sorry for how he is sometimes, but he's struggling to find a better way. The second verse, however, is when he is angry and fighting with his lover. "The beauty queen has lost her crown again" sounds like a sarcastic line, one that would go nicely with a sneer. Now the chorus. So here we are. Fighting and trying to hide the scars I'll be home tonight, take a breath and softly say goodbye The lonely road, one that I try to walk alone I'll be home tonight take a breath and softly say goodbye First part's obvious, they're fighting and trying to hide the scars that their arguments have caused, trying to act as if they don't care. The second pair of lines says that despite the fights, there's times when they still love each other. And the next part he's talking about means he needs to be on his own for a while. Perhaps the lonely road refers to the road to forgiveness? Seeing how many fights are never resolved, it's likely that this would be a pretty lonely road. So why are you the one that walks away Pick the pieces up Pick the pieces up Pick the pieces up Maybe at first, she was the one trying to stop the fighting, but now she just wants their relationship to end. That's just my idea of this song. but no matter how you look at it, it's an awesome song. |

| This sounds a lot like it describes Christianity. "Driving the nail", "hoping to find a savior", "I'm a believer", "You are the faith inside me". So I'm going with ShallowBayBandit. Perhaps Mark or Chad is starting to influence Ben. I've heard some stuff on Phobia that could possibly be linked to Christianity. Anyway, great song. I instantly loved this one. | |

Great song. I agree with the people who said it was about a soldier. It makes sense. Borderline dead inside I don't mind falling to pieces Maybe he's heard about how soldiers who've seen so much bloodshed fall apart, but because something tragic happened he doesn't care anymore. count me in violent let's begin feeding the sickness This is before he actually starts fighting, when he hasn't actually seen a real battle. He has no idea what he's getting into. |
