this is another one of those songs that brings back painful memories for me. coming right under "face down" by the red jumpsuit, i read an article where plumb was interviewed; this is about an abusive relationship, and i connect deeply with it, on two levels. firstly, about my ex, and secondly, my father. she doesn't explain specific situations, but the song in general attaches to you, if you've been through this. she is one of the many people i would love to meet and thank for giving courage to those of us who fear speaking up about what we have been through. |

this song has more meaning to me than anyone will ever know. the first time i heard this song, i didnt really pay attention to the words, just the beat. then, i heard the lyrics, and i was shocked. since november, i had been in a relationship with my first love. everything was fine, but then things turned bad. he constantly abused me, pushed me around, and threw me. i cried when i heard this song, partially because i realized how serious what i was going through really is, and partially because i was so thankful someone had finally written a song about it. abuse isn't a joke, it's not entertainment, it's not just in movies, it's real. and i've experienced it. a few days after i discovered the lyrics, i broke up with my boyfriend. things have been hard because he still comes over and threatens me, but that can be taken care of with a trip to the local police. it's unfortunate it had to end with this. but now, i feel like a great weight has been lifted, and i wish there was some way to thank the band for their amazing inspiration. |
