m'kay, I'm back to get a few things straight: 1. It's MCR. The band was there on live TV, they performed it, they rocked out just like always. So no one can tell me that it isn't MCR. That's just stupid. 2. Pop, Punk, Emo... who gives a shit? Labels are for soup cans. Plus, you shouldn't like or dislike MCR for their label, you should love or hate 'em for their music. I agree with everyone who said it was to his mom: I think it took her death for him to realize how much she really did for him and how he threw it all away and wouldn't let her help him. I also am getting the feeling that he's sorry that he never did anything to pay her back for everything she's done for him, and the song is a way for thanking her and a way for expressing how mad he is at himself that he never showed her just how much she meant to him because he never knew it. One more thing, I think the "3 months sober" part was because she had died 3 months previously and he realized that either drugs or alchohol were what had made him so insensitive towards her... |

Perhaps it's because you're losers and you have no life, so in your own self pity you go and insult others to make yourself feel better. Tragic. Honestly, get the hell out of this board, and take your sad excuses for posts with you. Anyway... Wow, that felt good. Yeah, it's about his friend, went and killed herself, just couldn't cope with life anymore. I guess it proves that suicide isn't the answer, and you've got to know that there's always bound to be SOMETHING good, you just have to look a bit. Sort of reminds me of a crappy dentist's visit or something. You've got to sit and wait while your teeth are being pulled and drilled and it hurts like hell and you just want it to be over, but in the end it all settles down. Just sometimes, you can't take the pain anymore, and you'd rather die than take it another night. |

I'm madly in love with this song-and the band, too-still, I can do nothing but guess as to what it all means. I think the "i'm the new cancer" part is sort of like someone saying "black is the new brown" or something like that, referring to how one thing that is now popular that wasn't before has taken over something else. In this case, the singer has overtaken the person he's singing about, and the person says "i'm a diva" as if she's trying to reassure herself that she's still where he is, even though she's not. And just saying "cancer", cancer kills a ton of people, a bit of an epidemic, so the singer is talking about how he's going to kill all these people kind of like a cancer would. The cigarette/nitroglycerin part is how he's plotted to kill her because he's left them on the table for her and they're going to make her go boom. So pretty much, I agree with cherrycocain. |

FackingHell, why don't you leave us alone and go slit your sad little 'emo' wrists then? This song is completely meaningful, and no one cares whether or not you like MCR. That's your opinion and if you're going to be rude to everyone else, we're not going to respect it. After I watched the journal DVD, it made one hell of a lot more sense to me. It seems like it's about the bad things in life and how you want to savor the good things so much, but they just end up slipping away no matter how hard to try to grasp on to them. It also sort of reflects MCR's story, mostly Gerard's, especially in the line "from the van to the floor". The first time I heard it, my eyes watered a bit, and then I spent the next hour listening to it because it's completely entracing... Gerard's got a great voice, and I really admire the whole band because of their talents... |

| Awesome song. Definitely one of the best on the album, although they all kick majorly. I don't know if anyone else agrees-I might be a bit senile here, who knows-but I think it's a warning that the rest of the songs really ought to "shake it up" once you listen to them for a while, as long as you really pay attention to the lyrics. Kickass band, great song, they're pretty much musical geniusses. Can't wait until their next album comes out... | |
