GWAR – Stalin's Organs Lyrics 19 years ago
Actually, this is a song about the Battle of Stalingrad, (August 21, 1942 – February 2, 1943) the costliest battle in human history. The city was bombed and shelled by the Germans, quickly reducing most of it into burned-out buildings and hills of chared rubble, which ironically made ideal cover for Russian defenders. When the German 6th Army swept in, the battle quickly decayed into months of fierce urban combat, with house-to-house, and even room-to-room, fighting. The tractor and gun factories were the scenes of brutal fighting. The sewer systems were used by both sides to maneuver under, and flank, thier enemy. The Katyushas, which were mounted on the back of trucks and when raised to fire looked like pipe organs, were formidable weapons that evidentially scared the hell out of the Germans. In the end, the Germans surrendered to the Russians after being completely surrounded and besieged. It was a loss Nazi Germany never recovered from and signaled the begining of the end on the Eastern Front.
As for last quarter of the song, I'm not so sure. However, I do know that Stalingrad's name was changed after the war to "Volgograd". Beyond that, I'm not sure who "was so led away" or what secret GWAR is refering to, nor the "fountain", since the Stalingrad war memorial is a gigantic statue and not a fountain. Actually, when listening to the song, I always thought they said "foundation", which would make a little more sense.
