I'm with crack a smile...the lyrics are pretty boring, but with a song like this the music itself, the beat, etc is just so sexy. Maybe if the lyrics had more imagination or spark it could be better, but it's pretty cool just the way it is. |

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought it was a teacher/student relationship. The repercutions in school I took to mean as a secret relationship and they could be found out. The obvious is that it's a silly...mildly obsessive crush between a boy and a girl but there's something about the lyrics that makes it seem more than that. Oh and that video...I was beyond confused...can anyone explain? |

This song is amazing..esp..live, but anyway...I think this is about self sabatage..."I push my fingers into my eyes, its the only thing that slowly stops the ahce" he's had a lot of hardships and pain, and the only way to stop one pain is to create more as a distraction from the original ...then I think the song is actually about duality for the same reasons someone said before...the whole 'everything has an opposite' theroy is pretty cool and actually fits the song...cheers! |

I love this song, especially live, its so awesome! This was probably posted but, i think this is about a girl that corey almost comitted suicide over...this song has some much love, anger, and hate, that you get so caught up in his passion..its an amazing song...but w.e...and to born to run...slipknot doesn't use the masks as a way to hide from life, and since I can tell you know slim to nothing about slipknot your analysis is wrong...if u knew the slightest bit about the members in the band then you would know that 4 of the members (corey-lead singer, joey- drums, shawn- custom percussion, and james- guitar) are in other bands...corey and james are in stone sour, joey is in the murderdolls, and shawn is is to my surprise...and guess what!?...no masks are worn so they're facing life...nothing to hide behind...and look I respect that u think slipknot is lame and totally unhardcore but please, if u hate them...why piss other ppl off...that just shows that u have no respect for people and music in general...so instead of posting meaningless comments about guys u don't like...try posting on stuff you do...cuz I'm sure ppl will care...it just won't be us slipknot fans... |

After reading 8 pages of these comments I realized...some of the ppl on here are so ignorant...stop bashing bands and saying that one is better then the other because its a matter of taste and opinion...if u don't like slipknot fine who cares, but to don't start a riot for the fun of it..post your opinion with facts...make it have a point, I respect those comments more (the ones who hate slipknkot and explain why, not the ones who are like "slipknot sux because the suck" ) than ppl who just like "well anyone who doenst like slipknot is stupid" well guess what? Ur just as stupid...u make urself look bad...both sides do...man I had to get that out
Now to the thoughts on the song...
I thought this song was pretty awesome, I've read that the 555 stands for fake so I totally agree with those ppl, the 666 on the otherhand I feel that the 666 does not stand for evil and it stands for like (as other ppl have said) 1 better than...the reason they use 666 mite be because it rhymes with heretic and becuase of the other satanic reason even tho they are not a satanic band...as we all should know....
When I saw this live...it was pretty kick ass...corey was so into it....it was goood |

Haha, I heard that too...tho...he maybe saying that to mess with us...I think one of the slipknot members said that they don't tell people the real meaning of the lyrics so ppl have to listen to it and really get the lyrics and try th figure out the meaning themselves...so...yea..this song could go either way...(and I got that whole "listening and figuring out the meaning" thing from something someone said on a different post, but I feel that it applys to the point I'm making..so props to whoever said it before me) |

I think I read in the slipknot biography that the the song was about how the radio station refused to play their music then when they became really popular you could hear them all the time...I'm pretty sure there's an edited version of this that was played on the radio...and mtv banning the video for violent undertones...god that so lame...root "hits" corey (which is more like tapping) and corey falls down like 3 stairs...violent undertones..haha...compared to some of the rap videos that have wayyy more violence and sexual content, spit it out looks like a childs video...don't get me wrong, I love that video to death, and I'm not putting it down...its just that mtv shouldn't have banned it for such a stupid reason....actually I had no idea the video was banned until I read it on the post....and to whomever said that heavy metal and black metal were one in the same....they couldn't be more wrong....ex...dimuborrgir sounds nothing like slipknot...they're 2 great bands, but u can't say one is better than the other...u can't cross genres and say that one band is better then the other.....that's ignorant..it all depends on taste....so bashing bands is so stupid..... |

Someone probably posted this but...I agree with the ppl who think it has to do with murder and suicide....I'm thinking that the song is about a guy who killed someone (probably a girl) in a fit of uncontrolable rage..."my eyes are red and gold"...it kinda reminds me of 28 days later...but w.e...then I think that he feels guilty and depressed about the act he has comitted...almost like his brain has 2 sides...total schitzophrenia (I effed up that spelling probably....)...then the guy comitts suicide because he so confused and depressed "is it a dream or a memory" he probably cannot differenciate between what is real and what is not, so his world is blurry, sic, and twisted and he cannot handle it...then he retreats to his bathroom, the only place he finds safe...he slits his wrists, passes out, cannot remember how he got there and isn't sure if he's dreaming so just waits (and bleeds) it out and eventually dies...I don't think that it relates to everthing ends tho...it might...but I think they're 2 seperate songs about 2 completly different incidents.... |

I also have heard that this song is about one of corey's bullies...but this is still a really bad song...I love slipknot, they're one of the greatest bands to ever walk the earth...but this song...it starts off great I love the opening, but then you get to the chorus and the whole thing falls to shit..."noises noises people make noises when they're sick..." That's the dumbest lyric I've ever heard....I love all of their other songs...but this...it sucks...the chorus destroys it all....even the 2nd verse is pretty cool...until the chorus again and the 2nd half of the song is just crap...that's just how I feel tho... |

I agree with basically everyone here, its all about following others to be come one with society...and that everyone is somewhat of a hypocrite. It shows how everyone is trying to be these creative individuals when really we're just like the next person. There's a movie called art school confidential that relates to this song so well its almost scary. You can find specific parts of the movie that go perfectly to the verses of the song.
Anway, I don't think the song is attacking any one specific scene, but most likely all music scenes. Take any 1 music genre and you can apply this song to it. I mean you could say that its leaning towards attacking maybe the "artsy/indie" scene because of his vocab (which I think is used to mock these types of people), but I think he's saying that every scene is like this despite what they do. That's just my take... |

I think he puts the hell in there because he's describing his personal hell...he describes his hell as a room, probably refering to his room at the crazy house...and he says "for eternity I lay in bed in my boxers half stoned with a pillow under my head..." He's half stoned bc he's probably on meds and has to be in some confined room...I'm new to say anything so I don't know much about max...but I get the feeling that he didn't like his stay at the assylum and because he wrote this song there....it makes sense for his hell to be that confined room....or hospital bed area... |

Well for this song....I think everyone is right...if your going for the who love stalker sexual predator thing...it has that slow seducitve beat with the low vox to give you that creepy vibe...then the lyrics express this even further...."I can see you but you can't see me" the stalker makes his entrance..."I could touch you but you wouldn't even feel me" the stalker can love the girl but she'll never know or care. I guess corey is trying to imply that the stalker knows the girl...I can also see how you could see the implications of rape, so I def agree with whomever said that b4....
Then when you get to the middle of the song, that's when more of the sexual references come out. I'm not gonna type them you know what I'm talking about (ppl basically have said it all b4)...
And this is one of the best songs on subliminal verses... |
