Why a girlfriend? Even if it was written as that sort of song, I definately think it fits into any sort of friendship. Friends can decieve you, lie to you and hurt you, sometimes far more than a boyfriend or girlfriend. Is it worth the risk to forgive a friend? It hurts more to lose a friend, if you ask me. |

| Against All Authority – All Ages Show Tonight Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I love this song. The fact that it's called "All Ages Show" and it mentions 'braces' make me think they're saying that there's always somewhere people can come together and belong, despite your age or background. | |

I think this song is about conformity and the challenges non-conformists face in our society. Professionally, socially, even privately, we as human beings are expected to conduct ourselves in certain ways. I think the song's about not understanding where you stand in the world "And if walls could speak I’d pray That they would tell me what to do" but knowing that you dislike where you are. |

First off, this song is amazing. Second, I pretty much agree with what Lightning.J said. People pretend to take a real interest in helping other people, or fighting for a cause, but when it affects their day-to-day life, they get scared. Then there are the people that get beaten down and don't know how to stand up again, so they just give up. I think this song is trying to convey frustration of trying hard for something, but never getting anywhere, and loosing so much your only option is to turn away. "When hope is non-existent, Our instincts all scream, 'Run', We never turn our backs or even bite our tongue." But, if I were to use a metaphor, it's like in a fight, when you've been beaten to a pulp and you're ready to give up, but in your heart you're still fighting. That, or you know you're going to loose from the beginning, but you set it up so the next guy has a chance. "On broken backs we beg for mercy, we will survive (Break out) I won't be left here Behind closed doors. " |

| From First to Last – Failure By Designer Jeans Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I see how this song reminds people of myspace, but I think overall it's about people with insecurites trying to cover up what they think are their flaws. The myspace theory makes sense (although not everyone on myspace has 8098535 friends that they've never met and they've added based on looks). If anything, we should feel sorry for people insecure enough to need constant compliments just to be able to accept themselves. Personally I think this is a very sarcastic song, maybe with a bit of sincerity beneath it all. Does that make sense? | |
| From First to Last – Waves Goodbye Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I love this song. I also love 'I liked you better...' I love how matt and sonny's voices almost 'melt together' in this song. | |
| Matchbook Romance – Fiction Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
It's a song about a broken relationship. "You found revenge in the bed" from that line on it's pretty straightfoward. Still, I love the song. But the lyrics are "The anxious air between you and me" not "the end you set between you and me" |

It's politics. The government is fucked up but they try to pretend they can control what's going on. And then the people go ahead and believe them. Then more problems arise because no one is telling to government to fix things. It all sucks. |

| Story of the Year – And The Hero Will Drown Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think it's about a relationship that neither one can control, one person is trying to fix it, and the other is ruining it. The hero is trying to fix it, and the other one has already given up, so the hero's efforts are worthless. | |
| From First to Last – The Crows Are Coming For Us Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
To me this has nothing to do with god, but hey, I'm an atheist so nothing is about god to me. I think it's about being in the eye of someone or someones who are ready to tear you apart and tell you how worthless you are. "How does it feel To be ashamed Of who you love Well I know". It's like in middle school when you want to fit in to a certain crowd and one of your friends doesn't 'look the part' and you're ashamed to be seen around them. I think it's sort if childish. "You walk on water You sing a lovely tune" But throughout the song it seems the person's good qualities show, and that person always knew how wonderful they were "Always knew What you were" I think "the crows" are just people who judge. And "Let them live" is saying they feed off the shame and selfishness of someone. Yeah - it sounds stupid when I try to put it into words, but it makes sense to me - in my head.... |

| From First to Last – Secrets Don't Make Friends Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Whether or not this song is a joke, it has meaning. "Secrets don't make friends" everyone has felt backstabbed and hurt and lost a friend or friends like that. Or, thought they had a friend and discovered the truth. It is also totally overdramatic: "Your words are deadly weapons Killing me, destroying me Your words are deadly weapons Scatter my brains across the wall". Please. People will move on, even if at the time it kills. Still, I love FFTL, even when their songs are being overdramatic and sarcastic. |

| Aiden – Enjoy the View Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think it means that once your dead or once you loose something you realize how wonderful it was. Like sjmarshy said you'll realize the point of life when you die. The beginning lines make me think of heroin, and it also seems like a suicide song. | |
| From First to Last – The Levy Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I'm not sure I agree with what everyone said. I think this song COULD be about drugs, but that's not what it means to me. To me, it means you can work hard your whole life for something, but it may not be all that it seems. You make your way up, only to find that you were really going nowhere to begin with. The adopted theory makes sense to me. "Faith at least in the form of gravity Keeps me low at the ladder" I think that means running out of faith and seeing no reason to keep trying. Not being able to get past something - no matter how hard you try. That's just me... |

| Rise Against – Tip the Scales Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
It's about how we go through life trying to do great things and screwing up. "These machines feed on the tears of broken lives and dying dreams" Other people profit from your failure. If you're thinking politically, we die to keep others alive, but what do those we keep alive become? "You can lead me to the bloodbath But you can’t make me drink" We all have to try hard to make our own paths. Again, thinking politically, shouldn't we be learning from mistakes instead of repeating them in wars. We can't just follow someone else's plans and footsteps, we'll gain nothing. No one will gain anything except the "machines" That's what it means to me. I think it can be a very political song if you think about it. |

| Flyleaf – Fully Alive Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think this is an amazingly inspirational song and I admire anyone who can be perfectly happy after suffering so much. | |
| From First to Last – World War Me Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think this reflects that feeling of wanting to change everything and not being able to. About being drawn into something and even though you know how terrible it is you still want it. I think what elSpud said makes sense - getting wasted, fucking random people, that sort of thing. | |
| From First to Last – Waltz Moore Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I agree with teenage-death-girl. This song IS about Sonny. In a way, it sort of supports everyone struggling with their self-image. It's a way of saying, "Look what I've become. Why do I care so much?" Anyone who's ever had some sort of eating disorder, or was afraid to show their face, or anything like that can relate to this song. It's almost a sense of comfort. It makes perfect sense that a young guy who was thrown into the limelight would feel inadequate. That feeling that everyone may have fleetingly is magnifyed when hundreds of teenagers across the globe are critisizing you. Deep down, at some point, everyone feels insecure about something, and when someone mentions it, even as a joke, it hurts. This song reflects how young people react to that hurt. |

| From First to Last – Featuring Some Of Your Favorite Words Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I agree with like half the people here. This song seems to be about how difficult writing something with real meaning is. You can write about the same thing over and over in a million different ways, but what does it mean? I think the song's sarcastic and sincere at the same time. When he says "Throw this paper into fire" I think he means he's sick of the same meaning behind every set of words. "Take me with it" seems to me like he is frustrated with himself for feeling the same things and not being creative enough to feel something else. And as for the whole Taking Back Sunday thing - Sure, their songs tend to have the same meaning - that doesn't make them a bad band. There are thousands of bands around today, it's almost impossible to be original. For all the people saying one band is original, there are just as many saying they've heard it all before. It's all a matter of opinion. |
