what i get from this song is that defines a relationship I ended a few months ago...this relationship could be summed up in that phrase "40 days of one night stands", which means me and this girl had this kind of "agreement" of sticking only to sex without commitment, has long as we both felt like it... "You're heart is served cold You're sights are set in perfect stone, And when you go you go alone, And when you stand you're on your own" the first part reflects that during the time were apart from each other, we see each other in this spectrum "We're nothing like friends, You have no time to lend, And if you're guilt then I'm the shame, And if I'm hurt then you're the blame" now this part is tricky, since we both dont have a normal relationship, so we dont know how to feel exactly "Random laid plans, 40 days of one night stands, And when you go you go alone You walk the cross you made your own" summing up what the relationship is like "I wash the streets from your skin when you come home" - she feels like shes taking all my sorrows from the world, the routines of the day, etc.... "You wash my trace from your skin and you leave again" - because after sex I would leave, making my way again through the streets This song made me see her perspective (I think) of all....this we had....kinda left me wonderin if she ever wanted a little more commitment...who knows... |

i wish everytime i listened to this song I was looking to the sea, since its the only one thats "mutable"....but I what describes best is that feeling you when arrive home:the world wheary you down, things dont go your way, and then he dreams with horizons "a million miles and a thousand smiles away" but deep inside he knows everything will remain, same faces, same loves,same smiles, nothing to call is own... so melancholic this song |

yeah...very early song...i got a version that they played at the metro club in chicago(live,i guess)...its intitled Sun[cut]...the sound is not that good, but nonetheless is gives some shivers inside when I hear it... obviously the meaning is, as crimsoncrushedrose said, feeling empty and having no idea where to turn to, since something dark has happen to him |

so much this songs tells...but basically it tells about changes in life..once you were a small river and "This is the sea" is a new opportunity u get to get things cleared and move into a wider and less restrainted world, a world without bondaries just like an ocean. Your past scares you, you're tethered by it, doesnt let you go on living without shame and pain knowing that "you once held the key"... The train is the final metaphor for changes...it moves from place to place, new people, new stories, new jokes to laugh at,new summer beaches and everything good that life can offer, and this time u dont have to sacrifice anything (material or emotional) to make that change. The final verse is missing:"Behold the sea", and then the song finishes |
