| Van Morrison – Into The Mystic Lyrics

This is easily the best song of van's ive heard so far. Whatever he meant or didnt mean when he wrote it, i love it. its such a deep and powerful song. To me, the mystic signifies the unknown of life and death and just letting yourself go and not trying to stop it. i think the song is him talking to a girl he really loves and he's describing the spirituality of their love. its the kind of love where nothing else matters and u can just let all other cares go and know that no matter what happens, ur gonna stay with that person because of a spiritual connection. and even when that foghorn blows (death) u dont have to be afraid because ur still gonna b with that person for eternity. its a powerful feeling and van expresses it better than anyone. Perfect song! Van IS the man! |

| Damien Rice – Animals Were Gone Lyrics

First of all, I would like to say that I strongly disagree with shawnzy about Damien Rice's songs being simple. I have never heard a songwriter with more deep lyrics and raw emotions in his songs than Damien Rice. Now about this song, I think there is a whole deeper layer to this song than one would see at first glance. He says at the beginning of the song "the animals were gone" and "left this house empty" which can be taken literally, but I don't think they're meant to be. Later he says "we could get a house" implying that they never had one "and some boxers on the lawn" assuming that boxers mean dogs, that means that they don't have animals either. I'm not sure about the whole meaning of the song yet but I know there is some kind of figurative meaning that ties the whole song together, and it is one of the most beautifully written and performed songs that i have ever heard and already one of my favorites by Damien. |

i love this song. it might be my favorite song by damien rice because of its raw emotion. it's sorrowful, nostalgic, and angry and yet it's so beautiful. a perfect song. i had the pleasure of seeing damien perform this song live and i absolutely loved it. you can tell that he doesnt just sing the words; he feels every single one of them. just the emotion he expresses in his voice is enough to give you the chills and even cry. and hearing the song build at the end live is like nothing else. you can feel the music and feelings filling the whole room to the top and you can feel yourself drowning in it. if you ever get a chance to see damien rice live, you just have to. words cannot describe it.
as to what the song means, i can see it being from one perspective or two, but i don't think it really matters. the song is about looking back at a relationship and remembering it. lisa describes the fond memory of the beginning of the relationship and how she cant believe what she's found. she is in love and nothing could take her down. except her lover. then damien comes in and tells about the bad memories of the relationship. he has many regrets. he is angry with everything including himself. he asks what she wants, what he could have done better. that's just my take on it. great song and very powerful. i love it! |

To me this song shows that damien rice has a close relationship with God as do I. And I know the feeling when nothing seems to make sense to you and you feel lost completely in sorrow. The only thing to do then is to turn to God, the only person who fully understands and who will never abandon you. Very deep song, gives me the chills. |

i think this song is about being lost in a way and not knowing where to go. so he looks to his eskimo friend, someone who knows how to get through situations like this, for inspiration and direction. Not to chew you out or anything paranoia girl cuz i hate it when people do that, but a couple corrections: rain it wets muddy roads, tapping does but irritate. That's all, great song. |

I also think prague isnt really talking about a physical place, I think it is more just somewhere to go to calm down and start thinking clearly. Just a place to get away from it all. |

I think the singer and this girl have been together for a while but now she has started seeing another guy. So the singer gets so angry he can't even think clearly anymore. I think the war thing is just a metaphor for how he is in a blind rage and cant control his emotions. He is packed up and ready to just leave. He is pissing his bullets about without even looking. He says he could wait around for her to come back but that would just hurt him more. I think the singer just finds himself in a very difficult situation and doesn't know what to do about it. That's just my interpretation of the song. Whatever it means, i love it. |

| Damien Rice – Unplayed Piano (with Lisa Hannigan) Lyrics

I think this song could also be about someone who is waiting to be loved (an unplayed piano) with her own tune that she just plays by herself until someone else comes along who wants to listen to it too. |
