I'm glad people can find their own meanings to songs. If they couldn't there would really be no point in listening to music. so I'm glad you founf your meaning.

Songs can mean differnt things to differnt people. It doesn't mean they are wrong when they look at a song differntly.

I was thinking about this today. I think she has a child she gave up for adoption that she keeps a lock of his hair.

Dave Matthews Band – Crash Into Me Lyrics 15 years ago
To me its about being in love and making love.
The ball and chain is having him wraped up in her.
"Into your heart I'll beat again" is him penitrating her and it means alot, its full of love.
Sweet like candy could be him kissing her on the mouth or elsewhere.
"Crash into me and i come into you". Is them making love and he comes in her.

If its about asking god why he waited to help, it is still about god

This in my interpretation; a song can mean whatever it wants to you, thats why people write them.

I found God on the corner of 1st and Amistad
Where the West was all but won
All alone, smoking his last cigarette
I said, "Where you been?" He said, "Ask anything."

(I think guy has killed him self at this place. and now that he is dead he finds out there is a higher power)

Where were you, when everything was falling apart?
All my days were spent by the telephone that never rang
And all I needed was a call that never came
To the corner of 1st and Amistad

(I think before he killed himself he was looking for a reason to live, possibly praying and looking for an answer from God. Whether this answer came from a friend or family. In the form of a letter or call when he needed it most. But he says that answer, that reason, never came)

Lost and insecure, you found me, you found me
Lying on the floor, surrounded, surrounded
Why'd you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you?
Just a little late, you found me, you found me.

(he was feeling lost and insecure. and now that he is dead god is finaly there. lying on the floor surrounded is probly refering to him being dead. he is now probaly surrouned by police and EMS. Maybe friends or family that he needed are there now. And he's asking god why he had to wait til now to show him self. Hes saying its just alil late because he cant undo killing himself. )

But in the end everyone ends up alone
Losing her, the only one who's ever known
Who I am, who I'm not and who I wanna to be
No way to know how long she will be next to me

(Maybe his gf left him beacuse of him always having a bad outlook on life, or maybe he was holding her down with him or something like that. And she was the person who knew more about him than anyone else. Now she is there next to him amongst the chaos. but he knows this is the last time she will be next to him because he is no longer alive.)

Lost and insecure, you found me, you found me
Lying on the floor, surrounded, surrounded
Why'd you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you?
Just a little late, you found me, you found me.

(repeat)

The early morning, the city breaks
And I've been calling for years and years and years
And you never left me no messages
You never sent me no letters
You got some kind of nerve taking all I'm worth

(now he is tlkign to god again about how all this time he was waithing for an answer. and he sayin hes got some kinda nerve because god could have saved him if he woulda just shown him self. but he waited n it cost this guy everything, including his life)

Lost and insecure, you found me, you found me
Lying on the floor
Where were you? Where were you?

Lost and insecure, you found me, you found me
Lying on the floor, surrounded, surrounded
Why'd you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you?
Just a little late, you found me, you found me.

Why'd you have to wait, to find me, to find me?

Unwritten Law – Seein' Red Lyrics 19 years ago
I think that this is a song that someone (I described them as person throughout this) is singing to their drug addict friend, possibly bf/gf ( I describe them as friend or addict throughout);

“I'm seein red, Don't think you'll have to see my face again, don't have much time for sympathy, Cuz it never happened to me”
- I think this person has tried to help their friend, but they are frustrated because it always turns out the same once more. Also, they don’t understand because they never were into drugs and didn’t know what its like to be an addict.

“You feelin blue now, I think you bit off more than you could chew”
-I don’t think the addict is necessarily happy with the way they are living but continues to be trapped by the cycle that they started. The person sees this in their addict friend.

“And now it's time to make a choice, And all I wanna hear is your…”
-The person is telling their friend that they have to make a choice on the way they are gonna live before its too late, and they are saying they want to see their friend clean up because they care about them.

“So follow the leader down, swallow your pride and drown, When there's no place left to go, Maybe thats when you will know, Follow the leader down, swallow your pride and drown, When theres no place left to go, Maybe thats when you will know”
-I think that this is saying if you keep using you just gonna fall, hit bottom and not have anything left. At the same time I think this also says that maybe that’s what it will take for the drug addict to turn around their life, hitting bottom and losing everything.

“And foolish lies well can't you see, I tried to compromise, Cuz what you say ain't always true”
-I think this part is about how the person tried to help their friend but the friend just lied to avoid the trouble, and they don’t want to admit to their problem.

“And I can see the tears in your eyes, And what you said now, Can't stop the words from running through my head”
-I think the drug addict told the person they weren’t ready to quit even though it hurts them both, the person keeps thinking about this.

“And what I do to get through to you, But you'd only do it again”
-This is again about how the person tries to help, but it still always ends with the friend continuing to do drugs.

“So follow the leader down, And swallow your pride and drown, When there's no place left to go, Maybe that's when you will know, Follow the leader down, And swallow your pride and drown, When there's no place left to go, Maybe that's when you will know”
-Explained earlier

“Well I confess, I don't know what to make from all this mess, Don't have much time for sympathy, But it never happened to me”
-The person states they don’t know what to do anymore, and again how they cant truly understand because they have never been there.

“You Feelin down I don't know where i'll be when you come around, And now it's time to make a choice,
And all I wanna hear is your voice... “
-This shows the persons willingness to help, but that they can’t help it the friend doesn’t want the help. Also, that when the drug addict does finally get to the point where they want the help, the person will still be there.
