| Josh Ritter – Kathleen Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I absolutely agree with those who say this song has nothing to do with sex. My explanation, then, of the "virgin" line--Wurlitzer produces organs, jukeboxes, etc. A virgin Wurlitzer is an organ, jukebox, or something else that has never played a song...and Josh is comparing Kathleen to one of those. I think it's just a sweet song about Josh having a short, romantic, non-physical moment with this highly sought-after girl, Kathleen. | |
| Spring Awakening – The Song Of Purple Summer Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| somewhere, i read an interview with steven sater, the show's lyricist, in which he said that this song is about the transformation from being a teenager (represented by spring) to becoming an adult (summer). i also heard somewhere that "purple summer" is a type of flower that opens up after harsh circumstances. i'm not sure how credible or true that is, though, so don't quote me on that part. | |
| Spring Awakening – Blue Wind Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this is one of the most haunting songs i know. absolutely beautiful. and the interplay between "don't do sadness" and "blue wind" is simply brilliant. | |
| Embrace (UK) – I Can't Come Down Lyrics | 18 years ago |

this song feels like my life. but so do most melancholy-sounding love songs right now. seriously though, i think this song is about a relationship that didn't work out, but the singer isn't willing to let go. he's sticking around until he knows there is no chance. |

I think it's about her self-perceived shortcomings and her belief that she'll succeed anyway, and also is partially addressed to an ex-boyfriend. I’m gonna burn a pie now and then And I’m gonna say the wrong things to your friends I’m gonna burn and shine and multiply And when I do, you’re gonna see me in her eyes… This part sounds definitely sounds like she's speaking to an ex who criticized her in the past for doing little, dumb stuff like burning pies and saying the wrong things, but how that doesn't matter because she's going to be a success. And when she is a success, her ex is going to look at his current girlfriend and wish it were anya (you're gonna see me in her eyes). Also, it's schizophrenic, and she's not. It's sarcastic. |

| Lifehouse – Hanging By A Moment Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I love when songs can apply both to relationships on earth (like boyfriend/girlfriend) and relationships with God, which is what I think this song does. Personally, I think it was written to God, but fits with some relationships too. After all, a relationship with God is the ultimate relationship and the ultimate love. He created our earthly love as a dim reflection of the love he has for us--why shouldn't love songs be sung to him too? | |
