| Stabilo – Kidding Ourselves Lyrics

Interesting that every person who hears this song has a different interpretation.
Everyone seems to be taking the "dying" in the second stanza literally... it seems to me like the narrator wanted to escape from the world by curling up beside this girl like a pet.
The narrator is in a relationship that is at a stage where they either have to commit to each other or break up. He doesn't want to do either; he won't commit "...I'm alright 'cause I can leave home" but he won't break it off "...I won't leave 'cause I'd be alone". His girlfriend wants to either advance the relationship or end it, but can't make him see why "so what do you want from me... what are you waiting for?" |

| Sting – Shape Of My Heart Lyrics

Verse 2 seems to be about how the card player sees his entire life in terms of a card game. The "Jack of Diamonds" is a young, foolish man- "Jack"- with lots of money- "diamonds"- whom he "plays". He wins his money from young rich men that he plays cards with.
The "Queen of Spades" would be a woman or women that he "lays". She's not the queen of hearts, because he doesn't love her- the spade, or "sword", gives a hint as to the nature of their relationship.
The King- presumably the King of Hearts- is who he really is inside. He conceals his real thoughts and feelings inside him until he forgets who he really is.
Just my thoughts, I'm out. |

| Simon and Garfunkel – Scarborough Fair/Canticle Lyrics

The "Canticle" part of the song is similar to the poem "Le Dormeur Du Val" (The Sleeper of the Valley) by Arthur Rimbaud.
In this poem, a young soldier is sleeping in the valley. The poem describes the valley and the sleeper both in great detail, then in the last verse states that "his chest doesn't move... there are two red holes in his side."
I don't know if this poem in any way inspired Paul Simon for his lyrics, but the language seems very similar. |

Has anyone seen the music video for this song? Hi-larious. He dresses like a pirate and runs around town. And when the song gets to the bridge, well... he's on a bridge!
I laughed at that. |

I love how 80 percent of the comments on the Dr Dre song have to do with Ben's cover...
I guess now it's 83 percent..

| Tom Jones – Delilah Lyrics

I don't even know if Delilah was cheating on him.. he says "she *was* my woman"... maybe she dumped him, and he couldn't handle it.
Or maybe he was just fantasizing about her, and they were never together at all. Since he apparently lives across the street from her, he might just be obsessed with the girl across the street, and eventually killed her...
I don't really know.. theprynce's interpretation makes as much sense as mine does, this is just another option. |

Also i think this song ties directly into "Landed".. the two songs have kind of the same feel to them and at the end of this song he says "Hello..." could be saying that to the person he's phoning in "Landed". |

I don't think either of the people in the song are psychic... I just think this is about a guy who feels like his relationship with his girlfriend is falling apart... maybe he has a dream about it and writes about it in his diary... anyway he realizes his girlfriend is really paranoid and doesn't trust him. |

Let me just add my voice to those saying the acoustic version is AMAZING...
The regular version sounds terrible after hearing the piano one. |

| Nelly Furtado – Promiscuous (featuring Timbaland) Lyrics
| 19 years ago

|
Promiscuous doesn't really mean someone who has a lot of sex so much as it means someone who is flirty, or who acts like they have a lot of sex... more of an attitude than a lifestyle. This fits in with the "facade" interpretation many people have been giving so far. |

That's right... we're infiltrating your popular culture in a fiendish plot to take over America! And there's nothing you can do about it! Nothing!!! MUWAHAHAHA... |

| Eminem – Kim Lyrics

I agree with ylimemi... In a lot of music, you have to either sacrifice deep lyrics for a good tune, or sacrifice good music for deep lyrics. There are some excellent songs with good lyrics and good music, but they are unfortunately in the minority.
In the case of Eminem, and this song specifically, the lyrics are not something you want to listen to, and there is no musicality to speak of. Why this music is popular is entirely beyond me. |
