This seems like George and Martha in Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf. I spiteful relationship that is addictive and deals with children who may or may not be there, which somehow makes all the difference. |

i agree with the idea about the haircut being a sign of samson becoming more vulnerable in the relationship. i also see the belief on both their part's that becoming more vulnerable and committed to each other will make them both stronger (an immediate "weakness" for the long-term pay-off of strength). however, they are disillusioned because they can't pull down any columns (in the bible story i believe that samson's hair grows back while being chained to the columns, and with his power restored he pulls down the columns and destroys the temple). however, despite the naive ideas about their love's strength, the speaker remembers the relationship fondly. In the bible samson tears down the column and is strong again, but it is still his downfall since he is killed as the temple comes crashing down. The failed relationship lacks some of the power samson could have kept long-haired (invulnerable) and alone, but it provides the "sweetest" downfall. The speaker prefers the sweet, vulnerable downfall to the lonely, but powerfully independent downfall. Pick your poison. |

Dave, is Fall Out Boy really the ambassador of American rock for you? Come on, guy. I mean, I like the White Stripes better than the Darkness, but I'm willing to like other stuff to come out from your island? |
