This always makes me think of runway fashion shows. "I like that outfit, the zippers' pinchin', But if you want it any tighter we could cinch it." Gotta be tighter, thinner, more "in". Being on the runway is the best part, with the cameras flashing and twirling and showing it off... Yeah. That's what this song reminds me of, no idea if it's accurate or not. |

To me, it's about a relationship that is over, but he won't admit it. So she's goading him into it, throwing it in his face. "Say it's over, we both know it. There's nothing left to lose." Also, the part about being a ghost, and something burned out years ago.... makes me think that she's saying there's no way she's going to believe him if he says anything else. She's not willing to give up what she has for something that might not be true, for something that's been gone for a long time. Amazing song. Amazing CD. Epic! |

I agree about the small town girl / girl going out on her own, trying to find her place in life and ending up in a spiral (hurricane) she can't control or escape... lost. And yes, this is 'what this song means to you', but it's annoying to have it pushed as a religious meaning. No one 'knows' what the song is about except the person who wrote it, so stop getting on your high horse and claiming to 'know' what this song is about because you're a Christian. We all have our own conclusions and may take it as we please. |

To me, this song feels like she knows she's in trouble, knows she should be worrying about something, but he pours her another drink, just telling her to let it slide, let it go just another time. The bring your own sun part feels like, he's saying, 'welcome to hell, make the best of it, because you can only rely on YOU to bring your happiness, since no one else is going to care'. Great song. Should be interesting to see how 'big' it hits. |

This song's meaning is pretty obvious... about how we need actions, consistently, not just a bone tossed to us to appease us for a short time, or something that's 'required' by polite society (ie; asking 'how are you' and not really caring about the answer). Love this song. Lots of good meaning. |

Is he saying "a compromise between what I want and need"? Instead of 'me'? That makes more sense, but I'm not going to decide on that yet... But it sounds like 'need'. To me, this song is about him and a girl and him telling her that she's gorgeous, she's something he wants, but she may be bad for him... 'but I like the way you look, I just hate the way it hurts'... Dunno. This song really means something to me because it reminds me of someone, but it's hard to put into words. A good song, none-the-less. |

I like this song. It's not very 'original' but I think the lyrics are classy. It does a fantastic job of describing the woman he's talking about (or women) and it's pretty hot. I've known women like this. They are seriously natural disasters, leaving confusion in their wake. But -- hot confusion?! Hah, like the song. Listen to the song, it's 'buttoning'. That makes more sense, too. Anyhow. I dunno. It's almost like two kids feeling guilty because they skipped a party / function to go have sex, and they know they can't tell them, and he's all.. yay. XD But it's not just about that. I dunno. Side note; about the other girl, I'd feel bad for her too...but it's a song, not a real life happening. And when it does happen? Well, it happens to us straight folks too, so, let's have a big common whine fest about that one. Lots of other music genres (especially rap) talk about using people for one thing or another. This song will just get heat because it's about gays and we haven't been using them out in the open nearly as long as hookers and little emo boys with cheating girlfriends. But that's just my opinion. XD |

I adore this song. I don't think it's offensive at all, and I've got a lot of gay friends who think it's funny. I think the gist of it is about this guy she dated / slept with / something for a while, then figured out he was so wrapped up in himself he wasn't worth the time. A lot of guys act the gay feminine stereotype because it's trendy, even if they aren't gay. She's poking fun at the indie boys and their little obsessions and such. If you read up about her, she likes to have humor in her songs; I therefore take this as a hilarious song about guys that I have known, and some I work with. I agree with Cat_unbreathing. They put it very well. That trend is very popular in my town right now. (Portland, OR. We have a big gay community, so the 'artsy' 'bi-curious' emobois are growing in numbers, sadly.) And seriously... If I was going to rag on gay people, I wouldn't yell 'PENIS' at the end of my song. Kinda ruins how seriously you can take it. XD |

To me, as stated above, this song makes me think of a girl who likes this guy and he likes her, but she's putting her hand up all 80's style and saying, 'hey, watch out, I'm a ticking bomb'. Shes' afraid that they guy will find out later and be angry, hurt, etc, and that things will get worse. It's like a defense mechanism. Great song, wonderful artist. |
