I cant exactly put what I think the meaning of the song is into words. Still, I know I felt the same sense of awe and patience everytime i look at the stars, wondering about what kind of beings are out there. I felt a little bit sickened, though. I've often wondered whether the governement does cover up UFOs. If they do, then I hate this government. Nobody has the right to slow down the progress of humanity in such a way for short sighted gains. As a side note, this song would be ironic if you played Destroy All Humans, especially during the parts where you, as Crypto, take over human leaders. TheGlassIs1/2Full |

As far as the lyrics...hmm...have you ever been blind for a long time (figuratively) and suddenly had a moment of clarity? To rise above your ashes and see your mistakes for what they were (...but its so clear now that I'm unchained...) It's seeing things rationally, without the emotional bias that normall infleunces people's decisions This bit is about finding out that what you feared was really nothing at all (fear is only in our minds, taking over all the time) The singer realizes that pain will ease with the passage of time (One day I'm gonna forget your name, and one sweet day, you're gonna drown in my lost pain) At one point, the singer sees someone going through what she went through and asks them if they plan to mope forever because of the bad choices they made(Do you wonder why you hate? Are you still too weak to survive your mistakes?) That's the impression I get from this song. |

jpj rocks, Well, then dont post if you dont like it. You're the one missing out. This is a great, although creepy song. I prefer a different interpretation than the girl/deserted house thing: "Long lost words whisper slowly to me Still can't find what keeps me here" An important conversation, perhaps? She doesn't understand why she dwells on it over and over. "When all this time I've been so hollow inside I know you're still there" Most of us have people we are uncomfortable with. Sometimes, those people stay in our memories much longer than they should. The lyric "I won't let you pull me down" means the person is sabotaging her efforts to heal/live a normal life, whether on purpose or not. She is saying "I wont let you drag me down with you. " "Watching me, wanting me I can feel you pull me down Saving me, raping me Watching me" This person wont leave her mind, and is constantly there. She feels it is seriously effecting her. She's so hollow, the idea of someone being there is on one level, "saving her" Or perhaps it was meant sarcastically? On another level, this person's constant prescence is killing/stealing of part of her. Well, what do you think of my interpretation? |

*agrees with cheddar* First off-Isn't it funny that people claim to hate a band so much...but have taken the effort to look up said bands' lyrics for some reason? Almost as annoying as the fact my xbox wont work. I need to copy all the great Metallica music before the cds are scratched. Yeah, the lyrics definetly are powerful and moving. That's why we're still talking about it in 2006. I'm not sure I can add anything more to the explanation of this song, but here goes: It's that feeling when someone thinks about dying, wishes they would, but for some reason, can't, or wont kill themselves. Instead of a physical death, they die inside their mind. They wait for death to release them, but death is taking it's damn sweet time. |

daddysgirl: Who cares who else like it? All that matters is whether you yourself like it. Also, labels are for soup cans, not people. Some people will fit a sterotype, but not everyone. As far as the song goes, it reminds me of when I trusted no one, not even myself. This part always gets me: "I make the right moves but I’m lost within I put on my daily facade but then I just end up getting hurt again By myself " Putting on a facade hurts yourself in the long run. To me, it's about when you are utterly convinced that you have no allies. Everyone has an agenda that will hurt you: "If I turn my back I’m defenseless And to give in to fate seems senseless If I hide my pride and let it all go on then they’ll Take from me till everything is gone" I thought the words were...And to go in blindly seems senseless.. but I guess I'm wrong. |

| This songs seems to be about loving and hating a person. If it is about rape, I think it would be about someone you loved and trusted doing that to you, causing you to fear and hate them. The house/girl story seems to fit as well. | |

| To have your innocence snatched away from you is hard under any circumstances. This song is one of my favorites. The band is excellent, and these lyrics are easy to relate to. | |
