| Brett Dennen – There is So Much More Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| The first comment really summed up this entire song. Sometimes having it all idoesn't make living in this world painless, because you're still living in this world with all this pain and whatnot, and though you're shielded from it you're not ignorant to it. | |

When I heard this song for the first time I answered the questions. If I knew I would die today, would I change? I don't know. And I continued thinking answers throughout the whole song. Whether or not the song is written about a certain situation I don't find to be that important. What I find importance in is that it's really thought provoking and makes me question if I'm living my life the way I should be and the way I want to. |

This song makes me so sad. So much pain is in this song, but there's so much hope as well. This is a strong person, willing to do what she can to get out of the life she was born into. But I just feel this huge feeling of inevitably. She will continue to live her life in the slums despite her will and desire to get out, because she's being held back by those that she cares for, for her drunk father and for her unemployed boyfriend. The singer has hope. The situation is hopeless. |

| Joni Mitchell – The Last Time I Saw Richard Lyrics | 19 years ago |

This song makes me cry. The narrator truly believes these days of lonliness are only temporary, that it's just a phase and that one day her helpless romanticness will no longer hinder her into getting into healthy relationships. But the listener can see her life is set. She will be stuck in this rut of hopeless cafe days forever. |

| Joni Mitchell – Both Sides Now Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| There are different ways to see things. Our experiences shape how we view the world and life. | |
| Joni Mitchell – Big Yellow Taxi Lyrics | 19 years ago |

'I'm having one of those moments when you realise your stupidity... I never understood the last verse; I thought it was about someone abducting her father - that's what the phrase 'old man' immediately brings to MY mind - and I couldn't figure out how it had anything to do with the rest of the song. Yeah, call me a twit. ' I shall explain it. The whole song is about taking things for granted. We take for granted our earth and all it has to offer us in its beauty, by covering it with concrete. We don't recognize the importance of anything around us and we spray poisons on the food we put into our body. We take it all for granted. The last verse ties it to a more personal level and a less environmental one. Her old man refers to her husband or boyfriend, some male lover in her life. The big yellow taxi took him away, because he was leaving her. And she doesn't realize how much he meant to her until he's no longer in her life, because she took him for granted. "You don't know what you got till it's gone." |

My favorite quote of all time comes from this song, and of course it's the most visible. "They paved paradise and put up a parking lot" Is the society we live in not one large parking lot covering the potential beauty underneath? Way to ruin our earth guys. |

| Evanescence – My Immortal Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This makes me think of a loved one that has died. Since we are all mortal creatures death is guaranteed and certain. Though the title My IMmortal says to me that as long as the narrator lives, so does the dead. As long as the memory stays it is alive. | |
| Eric Clapton – Wonderful Tonight Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song reminds me of my parents so much. No matter what my mom is wearing or doing and no matter where they are together, my dad always claims to have the most beautiful wife in the place. This song has so much love in it. He's so happy with who's he's found and loves her so well. Clapton does such a great job of expressing words that are hard to explain. |

| Eric Clapton – Tears In Heaven Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Jesus, I hate when people talk without knowing what they're speaking about: Then, on March 20, 1991 at 11:00AM, Conor, who was four and a half, died when he fell from the 53rd-story window of his mother's New York City apartment, landing on the roof of an adjacent four-story building. A fraction of Clapton's grief was heard on the song "Tears in Heaven" (on the soundtrack to the 1991 movie Rush), co-written with Will Jennings, which, like the MTV Unplugged album that followed it, won a Grammy award. |

I live in San Francisco and this song really does a wonderful job of describing pieces of it. On that note, I want to get married at Grace Cathedral. |

| Death Cab for Cutie – Tiny Vessels Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
So when you'd ask, "Is something wrong?" I'd think "You're damn right there is But we can't talk about it now No, we can't talk about it now" I just can see it. I can feel it. And I know it. You're with a guy and you think he cares about you, and suddenly he loses interest in whatever sex you were giving. You think there's more than sex, he doesn't. And you ask if anything's wrong, and he says no. But there obviously is, and you, being the naive girl have no idea how he's using you for his own pleasures. And I do feel pity for the narrarator, because he obviously realizes using girls like he has done is emotionally devastating. |

| Death Cab for Cutie – Brothers on a Hotel Bed Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
SpelledWithSilence?: Definetly not about a relationship. What is less romanic then family (brothers). Response: That's exactly the point. All the romanticism is lost. There is no intimacy anymore, only awkwardness. It's about losing the intimacy with someone you once were closer to than anyone. |

| Jack's Mannequin – Dark Blue Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I just started listening to this song and I must say, I am completely obsessed. But it's hard not to be, because the song is amazing. I was actually hoping one of you would have insight on what this song means, because I'm sure it means something amazing (amazingly hidden). I kind of see it as having one person that is more important than anything and is closer to you than anyone else. "Dark blue, dark blue Have you ever been alone in a crowded room? Well, I'm here with you I said the world could be burning and burning down." It makes me think of when you're absolutely surrounded by people but feeling lonlier than ever. But this song puts in the support you need to get by. I think maybe that's what it's about, support from someone? Or supporting someone? Or both. Or losing that support? |
