The chorus is actually really clever -- I watched the music video and it made a lot more sense to me. This guy falls in and out of love easily, mainly because he chooses them because they're 'hot' and that's it. He thinks because they're pretty and they have a lot of sex it's 'love'. That's where the chorus really plays in -- all of his relationships have been mainly physical, so: "Not much of a girlfriend, never seem to get a lot" confuses him, because all of his past girlfriends always had sex with him or gave him a lot physically -- but that's not exactly what has been working out for him. So basically this song is about this guy who never had a real deep emotional relatinship, finally finding one, being confused -- but knowing it's right. |

"I don't care where you move I don't care if it's far All that I ask is that I know where you are In case our timing is right In case you need more from me Than a bit of advice Or a tongue full of sympathy" This line is just GUH. I'm always one of those people who say, "I just want to get out of this place -- pack it all away and start over." And the thought that perhaps someone would just think these lines -- oh, Her Space Holiday you are fucking amazing. |

This song has beautiful lyrics that are so self-explaintory. Basically, I'm assuming he followed a girl to San Francisco -- someone who ran away from him and moved on with her life. He has one more thing to say before he can be at peace with himself, so he travels and visits her. He'll try to win her over, and even though he might have told her something wrong to drive her away -- he realizes that she simply made him better and it was such a mistake. But he knows she's broken, and he knows he is too -- and even though this all happened, he still wants her to remember him as someone she wanted to stay. |

This song was so simple, yet so clear with it's message. The simplicity of the message -- "Cast some light and you'll be alright." To me, it just reminds me that it's a wound that will heal with time and a little interaction. When you don't know how to help someone, but you still do all that you can. And sometimes, the help that they need is just a little light -- all that you can give. |

It could e based on a relationship, on something similar. Perhaps it's just an overgaurding feeling of loving someone so much you would watch over them -- and most itmes people relate that to a boyfriend/girlfriend aspect. "And I will wait here awhile Just long enough to be sure that you didn’t make a wrong turn" This could be during the relationship, where he is constantly watching over her -- making sure she doesn't make a wrong turn. "And I wait long enough Maybe an hour or two Before I decide It wasn’t me it was you Wasn't me it was you." And this starts the break-up. One of the most common phrases is: "It's me, it's my fault." But perhaps he's holding anger behind -- because she did make a wrong turn, and it was her fault. "And I would like you to know Although it seems sad to say This was only the worst hour of my day The worst hour of my day" After a break up, there is usually mutual feelings of hate for eachother. A competition to see, "who is over it first." "How long has it been on your mind? Do you think about it when we lie?" At this point, a while after the break-up, he wonders if she still wants the relationship back. And all those 'lies', being the 'Only worse hour of my day' -- do they still think about them? "I think it’s a big mistake Cause I think that we could make it last Even if it’s just for awhile." And the regret starts pouring in. He regrets not giving them another chance, and realizes they could continue it -- if only for a little longer. "Wait here for now Just along enough to be Sure that you really want to go through with this Cause I really wanna go through with this And do you really wanna go through with this?" At this point, the relationship is refreshed and new -- and do they really both want to go through with this again? |

| Howie Day – She Says Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I definately think that this is an ex to a current. In the intro, when Howie is talking to the girl -- before the man there is the set of these lyrics that makes me think: "And that's why i'm wondering why you had to tell me what's going on in your head what's wrong come around to another time when you don't have to run" It looks like the singer and the girl wants to be together, but there is a reason why they can't. So she runs and finds a temporary escape -- because perhaps he gives her bad memories. Or maybe she wants to put someone else through this phase -- so the two could be together in the very end. The rest of song is pretty self-explaintory, but this part: "swing into flight over hills, over her hills it's twilight yeah, i guess that's right now while we're here tell me why it's so funny that you're so funny when you're mad cause it's mad, so mad" And basically, Howie is telling the guy to fly away and leave this behind. Because at this point of insanity -- such a crazy relationship, you can't do anything but laugh. It's so mad (insane) now. "I don't know what it means to me you don't know what it means to you she doesn't mean you." And he still can't believe he even bothers with her -- since it brings nothing but trobule and insanity. Even he can't explain what everything means anymore -- but he takes comfort that as long as she doesn't mean 'you' that he's still going through with it. |

Maybe I'm completely wrong about this, but I always had a movie scene playing in my head with this song -- and perhaps at least one person could connect with what I always seen, these stolen moments printed onto broken reels. I always thought that this Guy and Girl had a past relationship at one point -- but were forced apart. Not from broken feelings or knowing that it was over, but because of the wrong situation or something similar. And because it was this, their feelings never exactly died -- and still running strong. Perhaps they had to end it before the summer, when they were both young and had other things clipping their wings. "Hey, are you lonely? Has summer gone so slowly?" He might have been waiting all summer, and finally decides to talk to her again. "Are you lonely?" Perhaps a question as to whether or not she has moved on or not -- or if she is lonely without him to bring her home. "We found the ground, and the damage was done." Perhaps when they first met they were in love, but of course something went wrong -- which is why he questions her to begin with. There is this everlasting scar on both of them -- they left marks on each other's hearts as someone they can never forget. The damage is done, and they both realize that this was something special. "It's cold as you fade into the sun. Where'd you go? To me." Of course at one point she left, for reasons they both already know -- environmental, personal. And because she did she disappeared from his life, and he questions where did she go -- only to realize that she was behind him all along, without him knowing it. "But you're alive! Well, it's only, Fallen frames, they told me." When she vaporized and faded out of his life, he had no idea where she should reappear. They both attempted to get on with their lives until fallen frames, or forgotten memories (think abandoned pictures), suddenly rushed back to remind him that she was someone he knew at one point. Pushed forth innocent inquiries about general well fare, a faint reminder of a past life that you can't help but question and catch up on. And he realizes, that she's still alive to him. "You stand out, it's so loud. And so what if it is?" So maybe she finally reappears in his life. She talks to him again, and she stands out immediately. A halo of light always surrounds her figure when he talks to her, shining so bright he can't ignore it. Maybe it's because she was something special to him -- always will be, and because of this, his feelings for her are so loud that he can't help but ignore it. And, well, so what if it is? "It's cold as you face into the wind. Where'd it go? Eventually something happens, and he's forced to face the wind. It could be she ended it abruptly, afraid of what will happen or what could happen. Perhaps she is still hurt from his last relationship, and she makes him turn away into the storm. And she tries so hard to forget about it, about their love, and she suddenly does. And he's left wondering how something -- their love, left so suddenly. How she could forget about it so easily. Constantly questioning, Where'd it go? "(Tonight the sun shall see its light)" And this line struck me as the guy finally letting it go. To let the sun finally see it's light again, and to put the thing behind him temporarily. "So what if you catch me, Where would we land?" He starts to question the possibilities of what would happen. What if she just threw it all into the wind and went with him? But what would happen to them when they finally land off this temporary high? But he does it anyways; he'll scoop her off her feet and take her to amazing places -- "In somebody's life, for taking his hands." And maybe he was too late, she has another relationship. He tried so hard to take the place of him, to take the place of his hands and hold her through -- but because of this they'll only land in his life, colliding and crashing. They'll hurt someone innocent, based on their own ignorance and bad timing. "Sing to me hope as she's thrown on the sand." He understands, and saves her from the ocean of impossibilities -- of him. He'll throw her on the sand, to her current relationship, and still have hope of what could happen -- of finally flying again. And she'll have to hide from the guilt she feels and return to her life, to the uncomplicated lands compared to the vast ocean of himself. "All of our work is raided again. Where to go?" And because he was too late, all their effort and relationship that was finally formed is useless again. He wonders where to go, to start something new? To wait for her? Endless questions with no answers. "And you were somehow, the rain this thing could allow" There's a refreshing feeling when you stand in the rain; it wipes the world clean and gives it a new slate to start over. She was the rain that their relationship could allow -- she had the power to let them start over and live together in their heartbeats. "I tried, but it's all wrong. You're so strong." See, he had his chance to make this work -- and his timing was off, his choices were bad. The relationship was all wrong; they were left colliding and crashing into someone else's life. But he believes that she's so strong -- that he can put all his faith onto her and she'll make them work, finally. "And this life, and work, and choice -- took far too long. Where'd it go? " So he makes a choice, to build a new life and work to forget about them. But this choice, it took far too long. He ends up back where he started, this temporary obstacle completely pointless. And he finds himself asking the same question all over again -- where their love went. Where'd it go? "(Tonight the sun shall see its light)" But he has to see the light again, to put this behind him temporarily. "*chorus*" And he’ll push her away again, but he knows that they can never escape each other. But she’s so racked with guilt – he’ll do it anyways, and leave the choice up to her. "When I was sure you'd follow through, my world was turned to blue (so thin). " I always believed at this part, he sincerely believed she would ride the sands and return to her uncomplicated life -- back to her current relationship. To follow through with his attempts to push her away -- and this thought made his world turn into a state of desolation. And he realized how wrong he was to ever put that choice in her head, and force her into a situation. He regrets not taking her for himself and letting everything just be. "When you'd hide your songs would die." And he remembers when she left, back when she made him face the wind -- and realized when she did, her love for him died. And he knows, every time she makes that choice to avoid him – to hide from the ocean and the skies, from himself – her loves dies, waiting to be resurrected again. “So I'd hide yours with mine” And he won’t let her, not this time, not this far into the game. So he’ll constantly be there to hide her songs with his – to constantly remind himself that at one point she did love him, and they were in love. And as long as he still tries, their love will still be alive. “And all my words were bound to fail. I know you won't fail.” But because he tried so hard to make this work, and because every single word of his failed – he’s going to let it fall onto her. To put the decision in her hands – because he knows she won’t fail. And perhaps their love will finally have a chance, because he knows she won’t let him down. “See, I can tell...” And how strong his faith is -- |

Dear god, I hate being cliche and relating myself to songs but this song just explains it all. Though, I think the message is quite clear and self-explanatory, I still can't help but voice my opinion anyways. I always pictured it as two people who were in love for a while, but something forced them apart -- bad timing, environmental-wise. But somehow, one of them has so much faith in them that they know exactly what will happen. "Do what you want -- But I know who you are" This always struck me as someone who still has clinging ties from something, and so one person will forcefully end it in the hopes of a better for the both of them. But the one who is in love, knows exactly who the other person is, and what will eventually happen. "Say what you want -- But I know what you’re thinking" They can say they don't want this, they can say they are over this, or say that they don't want this to happen, but the other person knows them so well they know that this is all a bunch of lies. "Go where you want -- But I won’t be too far" So they say, go where you want and try everything out, but they know that they'll trail slowly behind and always be there when they finally figure out what happens. "Go where you want -- And I know where you’ll end up" This is a line that tells me how confident and how perfect they are for each other. To actually know a person that well, to know that they'll end up with you takes something more than just guts. "If you fall in love -- Fall in love and hold nothing back I’ll fall in love --Fall in love and hold nothing back from you. Ooh, you" And this line pretty much sealed the deal, to make me assume that the two are actually in love with eachother. One is patiently waiting for them to finally fall in love and hold nothing back -- and when that person does they'll do the same. And it's a matter of patience and waiting -- but to actually know a person that well to put so much faith behind them -- is exactly why I find this song so amazing. |

| Howie Day – Collide Lyrics | 19 years ago |

This song is something amazing all together. And while, I always associate this song with a feeling of heartache and heartbreak, I still can't see it that way. In the beginning, I always feel like it's about a girl and a guy who finally, finally, finally managed to get together and let everything pent up behind themselves 'collide'. Perhaps, it's about a guy and a girl who are so different yet they accompany each other so well. He leaves, but she knows to follow -- He's open, she's closed -- and these combinations of numberless equations compliment each other so well that it's perfect. Lines such as, "I'm quiet you know." "You made a first impression." seems to just remind me of how she manages to make him into something he's not, by being the opposite of him. And how much of an impact she exactly made on him. So much that he's willing to continuously 'collide' and try to be with her. But of course, people with such clashing yet complimenting personalities will often have times where they'll lose their place. Where one would be scared, afraid that such personalities will only hurt one and another in the end. And of course, one will mess up -- but eventually they manage to find themselves back to each other again, through fate or otherwise they end up colliding. |
