I thought it was, "I'm down, UNDER water", and "We don't mind so we just SWALLOW". Eh. And that (?) after I eat, is, from what I can hear, "(?)...burgers, but this society feels like murder." I love the music to it. It's so...droning and tired sounding, like trying to swim across an ocean, you just tell yourself to keep swimming, on and on, until you sink. |

| It's "the remainders" of a shooting star. :| It's in the little booklet cd. I know that MM changes their lyrics sometimes (that part in Float On and a couple other), but that's what I hear in the song. | |

Meh, I had always thought that the whole "you're gone, I'm alone" thing was more figurative than literal. Ben Moody was the one who wrote this, right? I always thought that he had written it because he fell in love with a girl who was his best friend. But, she changed from who she was or began to see someone else, so even if she still has "all of me", he was "alone all along" because his love was one-sided. Eh. |

Well, I don't think this song's the best that MM came out with (it's pretty goddamn awful), but I do like the lyrics and such. I've always associated the song with death. They use fluorescent light bulbs in hospitals, don't they? The drums in the song are reminiscent of a slow, throbbing heart to me. Ionizing and atomizing is sort of like, the girl's soul is dead, or her body is decomposing and breaking down, and when Nicole Johnson whispers things like, "I am feeling empty...Fluorescent lights will always equal empty", she's comparing the cold light coming from a fluorescent light bulb (they don't produce heat, do they?) to death. |

| Modest Mouse – Bury Me with It Lyrics | 19 years ago |

WorshipAandC: I'm pretty sure that this song has two meanings, one for the first part (the beginning to the first "good news" chorus) and the second (after that to the end). The first part seems to be just about MM's life, you know, partying and getting drunk n' high, and doing that until they die (Well sure as planets come I know that they end, And if I'm here when that happens just promise me this my friend; Please bury me with it, I just don't need none of that Mad Max bullshit). But the second part to me, is more about the fact that they work so hard to make good songs (we were aiming for the moon, we were shooting at the stars), and yet these shitty bands like Simple Plan have sold more albums than them. In their rage they create Float On and Ocean Breathes Salty, knowing that their old fans'll think they've sold out (when Brock is ranting during the second chorus, I clearly heard "selling out", though I couldn't hear much else. Which makes me think "Well we'll float on, good news is on the way" in Float On is alluding to this.), but really just making the songs to be able to make the GOOD stuff. Thus the title of the cd, "Good News for People Who Love Bad News" is MM telling their fans that they shouldn't worry about them selling out. |
