I see this song in a completely different way. I think she is reffering to herself as eve talking about adam. The bible depics eve as being bad and manipulative and making adam take the apple. "You bit the apple, and renounced the paradise Condemned the snake, even though you’re the one who wanted it" He wanted the apple. He took the apple Eve had nothing to do with it a zebra could have come and asked him to eat the apple and he probably would have. He most likely would have blamed the zebra after that. Adams made up as a perfect man. I see him as being just like the average man. Not wanting to take responsibility for his own faults. After biting the apple adam and eve lost their paradise "You remained naked And you faced dinosaurs under a roof, and without a shield. Now you are here…Wanting to be happy…" Now that adam wasnt perfect and now that he had nothing he crawled back to eve wanting her back to make him happy & She wasnt gonna have that. |

I see this song in two ways. The first one I see it as this was the girl before delilah. before anybody else. "I loved you first." She cut his hair first and it took away his strength but they had eachother and they loved eachother and to him that was all the strength he needed "we couldnt bring the collumns down. we couldnt destroy a single one" He had no physical strength and he probably couldnt have brung the collumns down but it didnt matter at all..it didn't phase him at all. "He ate a slice of wonderbread and went right back to bed." His hair was cut and he went right back to bed as if it was nothing."The history books forgot about us and the bible didnt mention us not even once." The history books and the bible never mention any other woman "loving" samson besides delilah. "Beneath the sheets of paper lies my truth" behind the words on the sheets on the bible is the truth. Her truth. That she loved samson. That she loved him first & this is her story. The second way I see it is as Delilah Defending herself kind of letting everyone know. Hey, this is what happened and I wasn't an evil person. Alot of this ties in with my first theory about how She cut his hair and he had no strength but he had her and that was all the strength he needed to get by and he didnt care that she cut his hair. I think in this sense he wanted to be vulnerable. She saw him as this amazingly strong man and he wanted to become vulnerable to her so she could love him deeper and in a whole new sense. So she could see who he really was without the hype and glory of his strength. "The history books forgot about us and the bible didnt mention us not even once" The bible only mentions samson and delilah as a romance that was such a big lie because she 'decieved' him. It doesnt talk about them in the "us" sense of how they really were together besides the hair ordeal. The bible depics this as such an awful thing that delilah did ohhh she cut his hair and she took his strength and did all these horrible things to him. From this song I actually think he hurt her in the end. Yeah, he didn't have his strength to bring down the collumns but he could have easily brought her down because she loved him so much and with that comes vulnerability on her part. He had an oppurtunity to hurt her. "You are my sweetest downfall" From that It sounds like he did. In the bible I see a pattern of making the women look bad. They said delilah did all these horrible things to samson when really in the beginning no doubt samson was an amazing guy but in the end he hurt her. He was her downfall... |

"I say "Im Sorry" For a reaction but you're still walking away" He is saying he is sorry so she will say something back so that maybe he can get something out of her except for rejection. Drive Away, Go against Fate You screwed me over like always Babe one day you will be sorry i relate to this line so much hes pretty much saying go ahead and leave but your going against what is meant to be theres so much resentment in the next line when he says "you screwed me over like always" although he has wronged her theres still that wrong doing on her part too and the "babe one day you'll be sorry" as if saying one day when she wants him back he wont accept her again because she walked out of his life. I love this song. |
