Hawk Nelson – The One Thing I Have Left Lyrics 19 years ago
I disagree with cowbell love those lines go
"And I swear we were born to let you down
we scream but never make a sound
we point but don't know which direction
we are america right now"
These lines sound to me like a conversation with God. Possibly about UNHEARD and unanswered pray (I believe that God WONT hear prayer if the prayer has unconfessed sins, and boy does AMERICA have a lot of those right now)

Hawk Nelson – Fourteen Lyrics 19 years ago
The 6th line is incorrect. It should be "The world is getting COLD tonight". Great song in my opinion.

Casting Crowns – American Dream Lyrics 19 years ago
This song reminds me of Jesus' parable of building on the rock and not the sand.

Pillar – Echelon Lyrics 19 years ago
In Vietnam, the U.S. fought a defensive war only, but a true Bible believing, on fire (active) for God Christian lives an offensive war. Note these differences in how a Christian should live and how the U.S. fought the Vietnam War:

1. "it's time for us to step it up
Another level now..." (We take the offensive; the U.S. forces had to wait to be attacked.)

2. "we regain all the names
The enemy took away" (Christians seek and save the lost souls of the world, in a since, p.o.w.s; the U.S. government ordered a withdraw from Vietnam, leaving dozens, or possibly hundreds of p.o.w.s to die.)

3. "And like a green beret we will lead the way
Into battle so have no fear we will draw near
So that we can persevere" (The Green Berets were a special ops troops, and they the first American to see action in Vietnam. The type of Christians that I described above are found few and far apart. They are God’s special ops! They need to lead the battle and be an example to lukewarm [um, like soup that has been left out for 10 minutes or so: not hot, not cold, but really gross tasting] Christians so that they can “finish warming up” and join the war as well.)

4. “We headed straight to the top nonstop
Set shop at the top of the Rock
You'll feel the aftershock after we rock the spot” (With God on their side, Christian are heading straight to the top, they are going to stay there, and what they do will accomplish something. Its true- I know how the war ends. Don’t believe me? Read Revelations 19: 11- 22: 6; the Vietnam War accomplished nothing except humiliating the U.S. and getting a lot of people killed.)

5. “Cause you forgot these soldiers won't turn and walk
We take hard knocks come back for more
Cause we're hardcore we fight for the One who died for (you)” (No how tuff the enemy is a special ops Christian would run away like a coward because he fighting for Jesus Christ, the one that gave him eternal life; in Vietnam, when the going got tuff, the tuff got going [home]. The U.S. gave up on a war that, if fought differently, could have been won.)

6. “And like Saigon we're on the frontlines
And we carry on to the end times” (The North Vietnamese [the U.S.’s opponents in the Vietnam War] marched to Saigon, the capital of South Vietnam, took it, and won the war; the world is marching upon Christians like the North Vietnamese did on Saigon. Christians are a part of these war wither they realize it or not. They can either take the offensive and win for Christ, or they can be crushed by the opposition.)

If you closely read the chorus and second stanza of this song you will find that, like the first stanza, they DO PERFECTLY DESCRIBE the life a Christian. Pillar is a great band, and Echelon is a great song.
P.S.
I am not against the Vietnam War. I do think that it was poorly fought but only because we had a weak administration in Washington. They were in control of what the army was allowed to do, not the generals.
