Ok people.... we all get the point. He ripped off Queen and David Bowie, get over it. Musicians are ALWAYS ripping off other musicians. Take for example, Can't Touch This by MC Hammer(catchy but horrible). The Beat in that is completely stolen from another horrible song, SuperFreak by Rick James. Thats one of probably hundreds of stolen beats, but who cares! I'm not a fan of Vanilla Ice but get over it. Both this song and the one by Queen were written how long ago? Why the fuck should it matter now? Fucking dumb asses, I swear... |

OK, looking through ALL of the posts on this song(which started in 2002) I've noticed the people constantly bring up Slipknot. What the hell? This is set up to talk about this song and Metallica, NOT SLIPKNOT. Now then, the song is obviously about fear of the unknown.
"Hush little baby, don't say a word
And never mind that noise you heard
It's just the beasts under your bed,
In your closet, in your head"
Darkness is the unknown in which little children hear noises and blow them way out of proportion, turning a toy falling in the closet into a boogeyman, which is only in their heads. |

I doubt that the Pagan thing is true. The source I heard it from is highly unreliable. But Im still going to look into it, just to be sure. |

Ah, heres something to support part of my last comment.
" The band's name is a reference to the book of Genesis in the Bible and the story of Cain and Abel, where Cain is punished to live in exile, alone and miserable. Anyone who relieved Cain of his misery by killing him would have "vengeance taken upon him sevenfold." The title of Avenged Sevenfold's song "Chapter Four" references Genesis IV, the chapter of the Bible in which the story of Cain and Abel takes place. The song's subject also appears to be this story. Beast and the Harlot, yet another song derived from the Bible, comes from the book of Revelation and refers to the punishment of Babylon and the destruction of Pagan nations. Although the band's title and members' stage names make obvious references to religion, Shadows stated in an interview that they are 'not really religious at all.' 'Anyone that read the lyrics and really knew anything about us, they would know we're not promoting either,' he said. 'That's one thing about this band that I love is that we never really shove any kind of, like, political or religious beliefs on people. We just, the music's there to entertain and maybe thought-provoking on both sides, but we don't try to, like, really shove anything down anyone's throat. There's too many bands that do that nowadays, I think.' " |

Have yall noticed that A7X is just one big biblical refrence? Even their name is. It has something to do with with how Cain was exiled and anyone who helped him would have "vengence taken upon them sevenfold" or some crap that slightly resembles that. Its actually kind of ironic because i belive the band has confirmed that they were not religious at all. I heard somewhere that one of them was pagan. Dont remember which right now though. ill look it up later. |

Im gonna have to agree with AshJ on this one. This song is obviously about the death or loss of a loved one and commiting suicide over them. When I first heard the song I really didnt understand it but then I lost my gf(no she didnt die) and i started thinking about suicide and as i sat in my dark room and listened to this song the meaning became clear to me. Anyway... I love this song just because of the fact that it so closely matches my life and the way i feel at the moment. and because its awsome. |
