James Blunt – No Bravery Lyrics 19 years ago
If the watch the extra features of his Chasing Time DVD, he mentions that the song is about people who got too drunk on their power.
That's not the wording, but I currently don't have the DVD with me to check.
But any way you interpret it, it's going to be sad.

And just watch him as he's singing this song...it's so heartbreaking.

t.A.T.u. – Clowns (Can You See Me Now?) Lyrics 19 years ago
When I first heard this song YEARS ago, I thought the lyrics were 'clones', not 'clowns'.
So when the lines about having secrets she won't share, and then me thinking 'clones' only let you go where you let your senses go....
..To me, it was one lesbian girl, pining over another, possibly straight, girl. And she was telling the possibly straight girl that there's nothing wrong with this...with liking girls. Clones (being the norm group of straight people) only let you go so far, but there's more than that, there can be us too.

And then I found out it was clowns, not clones, and it tripped me up a bit...I got confused.
But....you know....the clowns could still represent my 'clones', I suppose.
Anyway, it's always about what you personally take away from a song.

Jewel – Foolish Games Lyrics 19 years ago
Gosh, this is the most beautiful song. I'll skip the "this song is about a girl and a guy, DUH!" stuff, because that is obviously obvious.

But it realllly applies well to some friendships, as I recently noticed. And I bet many people have had my same experience:
You have a friend, one whom you think is amazingly cool. As a person, and maybe social status wise. You two become great friends, right? Hanging out all the time, "connecting" on a deeper friendship level (as opposed to a more superficial one).
But after a while, maybe a year, maybe two, you grow apart. Or, more like, this person quickly stops hanging out with you. You've been dropped so quickly, it's as if your frienship with this person didn't even matter to begin with, huh? You thought this person was different, but you can certainly see now how wrong you were.

More of an experience to happen to us younger people (teenagers...maybe twenties too), but I'm sure you see the point. And you probably think I sound a bit "emo". ...oh well.

It's a beautiful song. Haunting, poetic, and everyone can connect well with it.

Jewel – Who Will Save Your Soul Lyrics 19 years ago
I love Jewel. This song just captures society at large so perfectly. And the best line, to me, would be: "There are addictions to feed and there are mouths to pay". When I hear it, I think of parents who spend their money on their drug addictions instead of feeding their kids, and big mouth executives/politicians/what have you that don't worry enough about people and instead worry about paying off the "important" people.

The Cranberries – Zombie Lyrics 19 years ago
I absolutely love this song. I know that this song is about the violence in N.I., but since I'm American, that doesn't have any special significance for me, so I've always viewed it as war in general.
My absolute favorite part of the song is: "But you see, it's not me, it's not my family". I've always hated war, and how people can believe that a war is good. Or that they plain just don't care. Why? Because it's not them or their family being put into danger. The song is a perfect fit to how I feel about war.
Plus, she sings it so beautifully, you can't help but fall in love with it.

Bright Eyes – Haligh, Haligh, a Lie, Haligh Lyrics 19 years ago
Gosh, this is my favorite Bright Eyes song, and the second one I had ever heard.
I think that when he talks in the mirror to "the stranger that appears", it has nothing to do with some probable eating disorder. I feel it comes from him not knowing who he is or what to do with himself now that this person who he cared so much about has betrayed him.
Beautiful song. You can really feel the pain when you hear him sing it.
