Culture Club – Victims Lyrics 15 years ago
No one has commented on this song??

"And it's sink or swim, like it's always been.
And I keep on loving you, like I alway do..."

Lyrically it doesn't get much better than that often.

Shed Seven – Devil In Your Shoes Lyrics 15 years ago
Wow, I was reading the comments above and thinking "I agree completely", and it was actually me! Woah! So in 4 years no one has commented on this song? It's superb! So rich and full of emotion.

Paul Weller – Wings Of Speed Lyrics 15 years ago
Yeah I've heard the painting explanation before. To me it's something in addition to that and a beautiful song.

Shed Seven – Devil In Your Shoes Lyrics 18 years ago
One of Shed Seven's best. Typically lyrically cynical but uplifting at the same time. To me this is about someone you've loved/cared for a while changing or turning against you, into something you don't like.

Richard Ashcroft – Buy It In Bottles Lyrics 19 years ago
Definitely referring to happiness in the bottles/drugs. Learning that you can find happiness without these but "until I get there then".....

Reef – consideration Lyrics 19 years ago
I think this is about someone asking another to open their mind to things. Perhaps in a relationship gone sour, or perhaps just a friend who is particularly closed to something

The Verve – Velvet Morning Lyrics 19 years ago
To me this song is a combination of spiralling depression because of a relationship gone bad/not happened in the first place and there is now drug taking and the contemplation of suicide because he's tired of life and the kicks in the teeth that come with it.

Doves – The Cedar Room Lyrics 19 years ago
Firstly - I think t.his is the best Doves song. Absolute genius.

Secondly - I agree with Bill Lee about the cedar room being his thoughts/mind. Spot on. Maybe.

Thirdley - Doves ARE the quality of Radiohead. They are absolutely fantastic.

Turin Brakes – Underdog (Save Me) Lyrics 19 years ago
I can't quite believe that there is only 1 comment for this song (and very few for the brakes in any case). This is a delicious song. Heart rending. Soul searching. Fantastic lyrics. A superb song.

Don't know if I entirely agree with Cotton. I think this is the age old lyric of a boy trying to get a girl to recognise him but it's not working out/hasn't worked out the way he'd wished. "Can you hear me screaming out now through the telephone lines?". Beautiful.
