awsome song. It is so powerful even looking at it from christan perspective. "in not a slave to a god that doesnt exist" is the best line. I interprate it as some stupid person say "why do you beleive in something that isnt real? then me replying with that line as my god does exist. Then you back it up with "im not a slave to a world that doesnt give a shit" meaning im not caught up in a world that is so narrow minded and only woried about living for the moment. Thats my two cents. |

I love this song but never new nin had done a cover of it. I have only heard the johny cash version i swear i almost cried. Anyway i havnt read all the opinlons cause there is way to manny. I think its cool that the same song by 2 different people can give different meanings for example with jc the needel he refers to is his daily injections of insolen cause of his diabities but nin is inteprated as different drugs. Im going to go try this version |

i agree this song is awsome it sums up how alot of ppl feal about society as a whole. ppl getting discriminated because of looks,beleives,background etc .i also like the lastg 2 lines "dont judge what you dont understand you cant deny what has been given to me" i like them cause they can be used in ne context eg im a christan so i interprate that as him saying to ppl dont say stuff about me unless you know what you are talking about i get that alot with ppl who think they know what christianity is about but have no clue. and "you cant deny what has been given to me" from my point of view is dont try to tell me what i beleive is wrong jesus died you cant say he didnt. just what i think. in general this song i would say is my favorite disturbed song. |

This could be totally wrong but oh well i think the song might be about god recreating the earth. the first line "i can save you if you leave it all behind" i think is a reference to noah (god spared noahs life when he flooded the earth but noah had to leave his life behind he couldnt look back) "We can carry you on our wings, Our wings Through the dark" this could be angles carring the beleivers away from the dark of the world. Im not sure but isnt it "ying and Yang" (good and bad) no yin? |
