After listening to this song for the past few days, I think I've come up with a reasonable meaning. I believe the bomb speculations as far as the mention of dust and ashes go could be correct, but that is just surface message. I think when he is saying "and the sky is filled with light, can you see it? all the black is really white, if you believe it" he is saying that the black sky is filled with light if you believe it is. He is saying "you can find a better place" in your own mind, even with everything (bombs, "ashes") bad around you. I think the sun "crawling over a final time" is an obvious reference to this being the final day(s) of Earth. |

To me, this song sounds like Trent is...indifferent about something, or is overwhelmed. "Waves of every feeling ever felt," to me sounds like he is split between himself, and can't make up his mind. |

Hmm, I think it's interesting how he says "isn't that what you wanted?". It seems as if maybe he was trying to stay happy, but his partner just seemed to keep him down, and finally he gave in? Just my 2 cents. :) |

Anyways, about the meaning. To me, this song is about the feeling after you've reached a new chapter in your life, kind of what starfire said. Perhaps maybe the last. I think he feels that he has seen this all before but it is different from how he used to see it (not the same shade of blue). I also think that he is experiencing exactly what the song says, lost in something he has seen over and over, and he wonders how to get things back to how they were. I think the rest of the song is pretty self-explainitory.
(first attempt at a meaning, don't be too harsh :[) |

I definatly think that the live version with the band is better. Is this strictly live? Has anyone heard of an actual studio recording of this song? |
