It's a relationship where both people have fucked up badly. Whether it be with drugs or cheating or something."Inside always trying to get back inside" is like the other person trying to get in the other person's head but they're stubborn, "it's so hard to penetrate pig thick skin." They won't admit they're wrong. They're both not right for each other, but they have lasting impact on each other's lives nonetheless. "Can't leave and can't forget, we ain't right" He's talking to his buddy, who is played by Cornell. The part where Cornell sings is an outside party saying to one of them "How can you have gotten into something so messed up with your head held high?" And then he continues that you were tricked by a woman, you gambled with her and lost. I must say with all the AIC songs, this one has the most meaning and feel to it. The ones about drugs I can't relate to. |

Layne and Jerry when they were younger doing drugs, giving us the music we love today, but at the expense of Layne's life. What a waste. Chemical Addiction does indeed get rid of you. |

| Soundgarden – Room a Thousand Years Wide Lyrics

This may be totally off the wall, but I think it's a love song. A guy who truly loves this other girl but gets shot down b/c she's either not interested or she's with someone else. He's a good hearted guy, but a lot of other guys just try to sleep with women and he doesn't.(One who lives while others lie). The other guy "lives these years that I walk blind" by lying and getting the girl when he would never do something like that. "It seems he's near me as I walk" is almost like him being taunted by the cheating or abusive guy. "A thousand doors, a thousand lies" tells me that even if he does manage to find a girl, she just lies to him. There are doors(women), but he is cynical and tired of being kind so he passes them off as lies. Again, this may be wayyyy off the mark, but that's what it's saying to me. |

I don't have anything really new to add. I agree with those who think that it's about a one sided relationship that the other person is just finally tired of. But I have to say that this is by far the most underrated Soundgarden song out there. Cornell just goes crazy on this person who's screwed him over. |

| Alice in Chains – God Am Lyrics

I find it weird that if you turn the letters of God Am around, you get Dogma. But to me Layne is angry at God in this song, because sometimes that's just what people do when they're under tough times. It's not God's fault that Layne shot up heroin, but he it feels good to lash out. His health was declining by this point and he was questioning how much God even cared. Regardless, it sounds awesome. The riff will get stuck in your head for days. Favorite lyric: "This God of mine relaxes, world dies I still pay taxes." |

Hiro's gf wrote a note that looked something like the lyrics(it would be too great a coincedence if this is actually what she wrote). It's rumored that she committed suicide, too, but it's only a rumor, I don't know for sure. |

This song tells me that a guy was friends with a girl that he secretly liked an awful lot. He's kinda nutty to begin with and this is him raping her. He feels guilty but he's doing it anyway. |

Self explanatory. Jerry's dad was called the Rooster when he served in Vietnam. Nothing too too deep here, but still an excellent song. |

| Alice in Chains – Rotten Apple Lyrics

It's about how innocence is robbed or stolen from the young. Eating from the apple is giving into the temptation to do immoral things like drugs or anything else that we view as wrong. What I see is unreal is marveling at how morals have gone to hell the past few generations. For example,it used to be you were looked at as a sinner if you lost your virginity before marriage. Now you're almost laughed at if you don't. |
