| i definitely don't get such a strong biblical feel from this song. yeah its about a prayer, but i think its more describing the way you can feel about someone, and OTR are using the drunkards metaphor to how they feel about booze to how one can feel about another person. oh i guess that could mean God to some. | |

musiclovee i think you described it perfectly. also i take it to mean that you are at a point in your life where everything is and should be alright and okay, nothing is really wrong or going bad for you, yet still you feel crap and just so grey. so you ask yourself why the heck am i feeling like this? what kind of paradise am i looking for?! i feel this in a kind of anger toward myself haha. like come on! there is no real reason for you to feel sad!! kind of like the john mayer song somethings missing... ha i love how simple this is, especially if u watch the show... its practically about making a choice between tommy and jamie. or u cud say its jsut about her feelings toward tommy, someone she will no matter what always 'run to like water', and how she doesn't know if its better for her to leave the feelings behind or to stay and keep going thru all the drama tommy causes..... id choose the drama anyday it makes such awesome tv lol!! "ill stand up on the ocean, jsut to show u that i am strong, strong.... but what if i am wrong?" the question at the end is beautiful it completely sums up her vulnerabilty and dependency on this guy who has complete control over her and she wants him to save her. and the way she sings it is awesome, the articulated words ahh so good. yea u can tell i love it... |

i think she realises that when she became the stereotypical 'popstar' suddenly the people who loved her most, were so disappointed. the line "i hit the bottom when i reached the top" meaning, without her fans and staying true to herself, she wasnt who she thought she wanted to be.. and this is her trying to get back into the swing of her old ways. i also thought maybe it was to do with her breaking up with the man she was with during 0304? probaly not, but i kind of got that message |

i agree with lastkiss_jaded. this song to me sounds like she has been emotionally or physically hurt by the man she loves, or vice versa, and this is her way of forgiveness. she is showing the vulnerability "You could hurt me with ur bare hands, you could hurt me using the sharp edge of what you say" - but she doesnt care what it takes, breaking her, hurting her, she just wants to feel the love again. i definitley see the sexual feel in this one. |
